Keyes didn't kill the Republican Party in Illinois, he just encased it in a stainless-steel alloy and buried it 1000ft under the ground in an unused salt mine.

Seems to me that if the Illinois Republicanss had to go that far afield for a Senatorial candidate, they were pretty moribund to begin with.
