The Republican campaign committee is not funding this race at all because they’re spending it trying to elect the independently wealthy Jim Oberweis in Illinois. If Elrod almost wins and Oberweis loses by a wide margin, it’ll show what idiots the party leadership are.
As if we need any more confirmation.
The Republican campaign committee did nothing to help elect our GOP candidate for Indianapols mayor against Bart Peterson. They are useless for GOP candidates in this state.
May be because Mitch is a RINO. We won in Indianapolis with no help from them.
We have to get off our hineys and vote to help Elrod.
Oberweis got the nod because Denny Hastert campaigned with him. For the past two years, Hastert has shown he isn’t good at making decisions.
Like his decision to resign and force an expensive special election?
A short list of Hastert’s mis-steps for the past few years.
1) A vulnerable Phil Crane thought about retiring from Congress in 2004. Hastert, desiring as many allies in Congress as possible, convinced Crane to run again. Of course, Crane lost to Melissa Bean in a fairly reliable GOP district.
2) When the Fed raided William Jefferson’s fridge, Hastert publicly denounced the raid. It made Hastert standing up for corruption.
3) Hastert’s involvement with the Foley scandal caused him to hide behind his wife. The wife was doing much of the fall campaigining for Hastert in 2006.
Do you know where we can get results for today’s special election?

If you think Mitch is a RINO (he's not) then you aren't going to be real pleased with Elrod.
The link to the Indiana Secretary of State office, or the Indianaoplis Star.
In a surprising move, The Indianapolis Star endorsed Elrod.
Thanks.
Results are close so far:
Name Votes Vote %
Andre D. Carson (D) 2,157 49.67%
Jon Elrod (R) 2,078 47.85%
Sean Shepard (L) 108 2.49%
59 of 445 precincts reporting
Very early, but promising.
Here’s the latest:
Name Votes Vote %
Andre D. Carson (D) 3,902 52.76%
Jon Elrod (R) 3,292 44.51%
Sean Shepard (L) 200 2.70%
80 of 445 precincts reporting
Unfortunately, we don’t know where the votes are coming from. If these votes are mostly from Center Township, it’s great news for Elrod, but if they’re from further out then it looks bad for him.
Here’s a more recent one, not much change so far:
Name Votes Vote %
Andre D. Carson (D) 5,884 51.92%
Jon Elrod (R) 5,101 45.01%
Sean Shepard (L) 343 3.03%
117 of 445 precincts reporting
There’s a link on this thread.
GOP should have stealthily made more of the Islam thing.
The libertarian getting 3% of the vote? What were those people smoking? Oh wait, I know.
