Anyone know how this compares to the .50 Cal Barett and other rifles being used by American Forces?

Main thing is that it weighs about 16 pounds vs. about 35 for the Barrett.
The ammo is lighter, too.

Lifhter, shorter range, much less penetration, but significantly more accurate within its operational distances.

The .50cal M82 Barrets were designed as an anti-material weapon, primarily.

The 7.62's terminal ballistics simply are not comparable to the .50 caliber bullet in any way. See the Wikipedia article.

Well, you know the Brits, Gentlemen Warriors. Their new 8.59mm bullet... will kill by just blowing out the back half of the Muzzie's head, not exploding the entire noggin like the US 50 cal does.

Yet, anything less than .45 caliber... is for wussies!
