Q&A: Barack Obama
"I believe in the redemptive death and resurrection of Jesus Christ."
Interview by Sarah Pulliam and Ted Olsen | posted 1/23/2008 02:18PM

Barack Obama wants to set the record straight. He is not a Muslim, as recent e-mails falsely claim.

The Democratic presidential candidate is fighting the e-mails that have been widely circulated. Obama has been continually speaking about the role of faith in politics since his Call to Renewal address in June 2006.

In the days before the South Carolina primary, he is driving efforts to speaking with media to emphasize his Christian beliefs. His campaign also sent out a recent mailer portraying the candidate with his head bowed in prayer and says that he will be guided by prayer when he is in office.

The senator from Illinois spoke with Sarah Pulliam and Ted Olsen today about his faith, abortion, and the evangelical vote.

"Islam forbids conversions to any faith away from Islam, often under penalty of death. Except of course when one is sent undercover as a mole to further the aims of the worldwide Jihad."

What a crock. The whole world of islamites would have to be in on a conspiracy like that because once he professes Christ as Lord, he is condemned in the islamite world. Do you really think islamites are that much a homogenous group to pull that off? GEESH!

You Conspiracists need to get a grip or you'll end up being the laughing stock of America.

I waggeth my head and say, "The Emperor hath lost his garments."

Got plenty more.

Hey, would a Christian take your money by force and use it to fund abortions?

And this guy is a Christian? Come on now, don't be so gullible.

Don't forget, a vote for present in the Illinois State Senate is the same as a no vote.

So what we have here is not only a person refusing to defend God's little ones but a coward to boot.

Or are you saying Obama is a rouge agent designed to fool the dems. and once elected, end legal abortion? What a plan Obama has.

No, you’re misunderstanding me. Any Muslim who honestly finds salvation in Jesus is saved.

Ok, then we do agree on this.
However I wouldn't want to assume that Obama is faking his conversion. Unless I see evidence this is the case.

Evidence?

This isn’t a courtroom and the rules of evidence don’t apply.

If it keeps him out of the White House as just a rumor, though....I have no problem with that.

Winning is what’s important, no matter the means.

The bottom line quuestion is: when was or is the baptism?

Traditional Christianity has always marked baptism as the means of entrance into the Church.

Answering an altar call is an excellent start, but, after 20 years, one might begine to wonder if he’s ever going to follow through.

I see no way that a person can be a true Christian AND a true Leftist. A man can’t serve two masters. A stream of water cannot provide both bitter AND sweet water.

I don’t doubt you are quoting right out his books, but it would be nice to have the Chapter and Page numbers to back this up with.

I agree, so I'm pinging TornadoAlley3 who posted the quotes. (I'm hoping I don't have to buy the darn books just so I have stronger ammunition when sending these to talk show hosts --- and relatives - lol)

In looking at his church’s site, it just looks like most of the megachurches heavy on social programs interspersed with a more formal mode of worship. Evidently, there are white people who go there, too. (Obama is certainly a more likeable person that Hillary. . not that I want either of them as President.)

You don’t think a Muslim can ever convert and change their minds?

lol - I was referring to an earlier thread (the one about Obama sponsoring a bill for Islamic Community Day, wherein you gave me a website that showed quotes from Obama's books.

Shineon -- that website doesn't show page numbers, but here is the website:

“... seek forgiveness for their sins ...”

If you have received Jesus as your Savior - YOU HAVE ALREADY HAD YOUR SINS FORGIVEN. Jesus died “once for all” - so we don’t have to continue to go to the alter and “seek forgiveness” over and over. If we did have to do that .. Jesus would have told us.

Excuse me .. being CATHOLIC or BAPTIST or METHODIST - does not make you a “Christian”.

People become a Christian by receiving Jesus as their Savior - and not because they belong to any particular church.
