What is disturbing is the lack of value you place on a living creatures life. All creatures have a purpose, and for man to interrupt that purpose for no good reason is simply wrong. This hawk was not killed to be eaten, or killed because it had become a danger to man. The bird was just killed for some guys kicks.
Of course the killing of an animal should not be equated with the killing of a human being, but that does not mean it should go unpunished. A wild bird is something given by God for all of us to enjoy. I would bet that most golfers at that course enjoyed watching that hawk and the other nearby wildlife. Those golfers were all deprived of something they enjoyed. The young man that did this needs to be taught a lesson.
I would prefer not to use the force of law to punish him; however, political correctness frowns upon kicking someone’s ass these days.

But you are on the side of using the law, which means if you had the authority to apply that law, you would, or be a hypocrite.

I said nothing about physical assault. You brought that up. I said writing letters and pretesting, spreading the word of your outrage.

Every time you use a bad law, you give it strength, until you feel it, and the children of its precedent, nibbling at your heels. You let the emotional application of the law go on long enough, you find yourself in a state run by the media and people that don't have your interests at heart.
