Report: Student Kills Self in Front of 150 Classmates at Alabama High School

An Alabama high school student walked into the school gym Thursday morning and shot himself in front of 150 other students, WKRG.com reported.

Jajuan Homes, 18, reportedly fired one shot into the ceiling of the gym at Davidson High School in Mobile before turning the revolver on himself as other students watched.

“Sounds like the kid was just really depressed - he didn’t want to hurt anyone else. My guess is he was a loner who everyone ignored, and he wanted them to notice him just at least once. It’s very sad.”

I think you’re right. For whatever reason, he was in a lot of pain, and felt his classmates were somehow the cause of it. But yes, at least he didn’t want to physically hurt anyone else.

Another concern is suicide tends to be contagious. Other kids on the edge may decide to kill themselves now.

Two jocks in my graduating class pulled a cruel hoax on a drunk classmate at a party.

The classmate committed suicide the next day. And the two jokers followed within 5 years.

Very sad.

I’m sure most have seen worse on TV - probably not and that is part of the problem, on TV it is too clean. If after a shooting or murder on TV they actually showed the blood and carnage, it may teach a lesson.
