When he was the weatherman at WLS-TV in Chicago, John Coleman was a member of a broadcast team that pioneered a news format that was dubbed "happy talk" by a local TV columnist. It's a format that's been widely copied. He went on to be the first weatherman for ABC's "Good Morning America." But Coleman isn't so happy these days. Frustrated by the lack of time and importance given by stations and networks to the weather, Coleman left GMA to found the Weather Channel. What he's not happy about is what his brainchild has become — a forum for Al Gore's church of global warming. [snip]In December 2006, the Weather Channel's Heidi Cullen argued on her blog: "If a meteorologist can't speak to the fundamental science of climate change, then maybe the AMS (American Meteorological Society) shouldn't give them a Seal of Approval."
[snip]Coleman disagrees with what the current management considers climate "science." Writing recently on the Web site of the International Climate and Environmental Change Assessment Project (ICECAP), he called the theory of man-made global warming "the greatest scam in history."
Coleman also called it a "manufactured crisis" by scientists "with environmental and political motives" who have "manipulated long-term scientific data to create an illusion of rigid global warming."
