How The Surge Is Succeeding
Investor's Business Daily ^ | March 6, 2008 | IBD Editorials

Posted on 03/06/2008 5:29:53 AM PST by Nony

U.S. Army Capt. Pete Hegseth graduated from Princeton less than five years ago, but since then he has served as a volunteer with the 101st Airborne in its 2005-06 Iraq deployment. This included stints as a platoon leader in Baghdad during the December 2005 elections and as a civil-military operations officer in Samarra for seven months.

When the Golden Mosque was destroyed there two years ago, triggering a huge escalation of sectarian violence over the following months, Hegseth was awakened by the explosion.

Now, Hegseth is fighting on another front in the war on terror — the one in Washington. The Bronze Star winner is executive director of Vets for Freedom, a nonpartisan organization composed of combat veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan who share their firsthand knowledge to educate politicians and the public about the need to win those conflicts.

Don’t get your hopes up about the nYT changing their ways.
1 positive story out of 1000 about Iraq is insignificant.

Expect a sudden “surge” of interest over at the NY Times as the number of fatalities approaches 4,000.

Probably will be enjoying a celebratory piece of cake as they type out their editorial. They hate America. They despise our military.

Time for them to sink or swim. BY THEMSELVES.

They are doing an excellent job at assuming the responsibility for their security. These things don't happen overnight and Rome was not built in a day.

We're not pulling out of here anytime soon...not with Iran salivating and rubbing its hands together next door, not to mentiona all of the other volatile situations in the region.

Al Qaeda has all but been defeated and the three-year-old government is beginning to stand up and integrate with the global market. But there are still things that remain to be done and the peace is far too fragile yet.

It would be pure idiocy to pull out now.

I’m thinking so. It seems people have the attention span of a gnat anymore. I do believe I remember Pres. Bush saying this would be a LONG TERM COMMITTMENT somewhere at the outset.

Indeed.

Any insinuation from anyone that the Iraqis dont want to ‘do the dirty work’ clearly doesnt follow the events on the ground in Iraq.

Its not to hard to find the stories, you just wont find them here in the MSM.From the shop keeper reopening his cafe/book store/electronics supply/etc ,who risk life and limb to do his part to earn for his family while standing up an economy racked by war,to the potential recruits who put thier lives on the line just lining up to join the military/police, to the IA/IP themselves.Look at who are taking the largest amount of casualties these days.Hint they arent American. They are the civilians and soldiers of Iraq who are putting fear and danger behind them to better themselves (and tho the MSM will deny it)and their nation as well.

A simple trip to the Long war journal will allow anyone to see the provinces already overtaken by the IA/IP and simply supported by US troops.

From the Code Pinkos I’ve seen, it needs to be a darn big crack under the door for them to slither through it.
