Security Breach At Heathrow Airport
A man with a rucksack has run into the path of an aircraft at Heathrow airport - sparking a major security alert.
He reportedly breached the perimeter fence at 2.30 this afternoon.
Armed personnel responded immediately and detained the man on the northern runway. They have recovered a bag.
Emergency vehicles are on the scene.
No planes have been coming in or out of the airport since the incident.
Sky correspondent Mark White said the incident comes ahead of the opening of a new terminal at Heathrow.
“Security is tight, especially with what is happening tomorrow morning with the opening of Terminal 5,” he said.
“Her Majesty the Queen will be in attendance to open it and it will be a big day for BAA.”
However, he said there was no connection at this stage to recent protests at the airport.
“What we know is that it was a lone man and he was carrying a rucksack, which is worrying in itself” he said.
“And he was determined to get airside.”
He added: “The question the police will want to answer, and answer quickly, is what this man was doing airside.”

Coalition Forces Kill Two Terrorists, Detain 22

WASHINGTON, March 13, 2008 – Coalition forces killed two terrorists and detained 22 suspects today during operations in central and northern Iraq.
— Northeast of Samarra, forces killed two and detained 10 suspects. Forces also found several weapons in the area. Nearby, forces detained another four suspects. They also found three terrorist safe houses and medical supplies and destroyed three weapons caches.
— During two operations northwest of Samarra, coalition forces detained four suspects.
— In Baghdad, forces captured an alleged weapons handler. The suspect reportedly is responsible for a recent shipment of homemade explosives and is connected to car-bomb cells in the city. Two others were detained.
— Coalition forces captured an alleged foreign terrorist facilitator southwest of Biaj.
In operations yesterday:
— Near Mahmudiyah, forces captured the alleged overall leader of the Arab Jabour al Qaeda network. Nine other suspects were detained, and one was wounded in the operation. At the site, forces found bomb-making parts and hiding places for personnel and equipment.
— In Baghdad, coalition forces detained three suspects, including one suspected of managing bombs, vehicles and suicide bombers for use by terrorist networks throughout the capital city region.
— North of Tarmiyah, forces captured a suspect with ties to an al Qaeda senior leader in Baghdad’s northern belt. He reportedly is involved in kidnapping operations and has associates throughout the Baghdad and Tarmiyah area. Three other suspects were detained in the operation.
— Coalition forces detained three suspected terrorists in Tikrit yesterday with ties to senior al Qaeda leadership in the region. Two others were detained during operations northwest of Biaj.
— Two suspects were detained in Mosul.
In March 11 operations:
— In Baghdad, forces detained two suspects. One has ties to senior al Qaeda leadership in the area, and the other has ties to a homemade-bomb facilitator, officials said.
— Soldiers captured five suspects, four of whom are suspected of involvement in a suicide attack that killed five U.S. soldiers and their interpreter in central Baghdad on March 10.
— Iraqi police recovered a weapons cache in Salahuddin province. The cache was northeast of Samarra in an area known for multiple caches and safe-haven locations for insurgents. The cache included 60 mm mortar rounds, 82 mm mortar rounds, 60 mm mortar tubes, boosters and several pounds of smokeless dynamite powder.
Earlier, Iraqi army soldiers stopped four suspected terrorists building a car bomb March 9 near the Rissala neighborhood market in Mosul. The Iraqi army evacuated civilians from the market area, and forces searched and found four anti-armor homemade bombs made of crude explosively formed penetrators hidden in a popcorn cart.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Senior Hezbollah terrorist Imad Mughniyeh has been placed on a pedestal of glory in various articles in the official Palestinian Authority Fatah daily. Western countries have expressed virtually unanimous relief that the terrorist, wanted by 42 countries and on the FBI’s most wanted list, was killed by a car bomb in Damascus on February 12, 2008. The Palestinian Authority, on the other hand, has been using the media under its control to mourn his death.
One article by a senior Fatah leader describes Mughniyeh as an “extraordinary hero... unequaled Hezbollah commander ... a beacon of light.” His killing is called a “murder in broad daylight... a tragedy that has hurt every Lebanese, every Palestinian, every Arab, and every free man on the face of this earth.” The revenge for his death will be more terror and eventually Israel’s destruction.
So wrote Fatah leader Ahmad Dahbur, until recently the undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, in Al Hayat Al Jadida, the official PA daily controlled by Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction. His article, along with others paying lavish tribute to the dead terrorist, makes no mention of the fact that Mughniyeh was responsible for the murders of hundreds of civilians and soldiers in worldwide terror attacks. Among his many international terror attacks, Mughniyeh was responsible for the killing of 241 American soldiers of the peacekeeping force in Lebanon in 1983.
The Palestinian Authority has glorified his years of murder as heroic. It describes him repeatedly as a “Shahid” (Islamic Martyr), the highest Islamic status, and has run his photo with that caption. He is crowned the “Knight of Lebanese Resistance.”
The PA newspaper, assuming it was Israel who killed him (Israel has denied involvement in the killing), refers to Israel as “the treacherous Zionist enemy,” reiterates the PA’s “rage and hatred” for Israel and promises more “resistance the PA euphemism for terror) ... the blow which will hand over death.””

Isn't that something? If the US MSM was proficient in reporting news, there'd be less "entertainment" news and more REAL news. At least the Bulgarians are on their toes and know a real news story when they see it.

“We shall always respect OIC decisions,” he said. “There is no and there can be no systemic or civilizational controversy between us,” Lavrov stressed. “As a multinational and multi-confessional society with centuries-long history, Russia is also part of the Islamic world,” he emphasized.

Al Qaeda gives Austria ultimatum on hostages’ release

Al Qaeda’s North African wing said on Thursday it had given Austria three days to secure the release of some of its militants held in Algeria and Tunisia in return for two Austrian hostages abducted in Tunisia.
The group said in a statement posted on an Islamist Web site that it had informed the Austrian government of the ultimatum which will start at midnight on Thursday, without giving a time zone. (Reuters)

Tehran police chief arrested in brothel with six prostitutes Tehran's police chief, Reza Zarei, has been arrested after he was found nude in a local brothel with six naked prostitutes, according to report on the Iranian Farda News.
Farda News is a website said to be close to the mayor of Tehran and former chief of the police forces, Mohammed Bagher Qalibaf.
Following the raid, Zarei stepped down from his post as police chief. The news of his arrest however was not reported by any official Iranian news agency.
According to a popular Iranian website Gooya, the order to raid the brothel was given directly by Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, chief of the judicial authorities.
Before he was arrested, Zarei was in charge of the programme for the 'moralisation of the city'.
It is alleged that in the past six months, hundreds of young people have been arrested in Iran for not respecting the Islamic code of behaviour.
