What I don’t understand is why you posted this thread instead of approaching Jim Robinson in private by email. It seems to me this just stirred the pot, and caused many things best left buried to be dug up. If your purpose was to see which way the wind was blowing in regards to those you miss, I guess I can understand that- but none of us have the power to unban anyone so I really don’t see the point. I really think some of those you miss don’t even want to post here as evidenced by the fact that many who are not banned don’t post any way.
I think if one is banned from this site the best thing to do is to contact the site owner and plead one’s case directly to the boss, and it works best after a cooling off period of time has passed. To me it seems rather silly to plead the case of others on an open thread- especially if they don’t really want to post here anyway. It shouldn’t be a popularity contest to post here, and as far as I know it isn’t.

I did it because I wanted an open discussion, to see what others felt about it. I never pretended to know all the circumstances of all those who left/got banned...that’s why I didn’t mention any names in my original post. ( FYI..For me personally, there are just a few that I miss..I enjoyed the threads they posted, and had becomes FRiends with several) And I clearly stated that I had no quarrel with JR’s decisions..I fully recognize his right to do as he wished. I posed the thread in the sense that now, for better or worse, acccording to one’s point of view, we have our nominee, and the party has to pull together; and possibly could we find a way to do the same here on FR. And I’d submit to you that on a thread with a contentious topic, and just about 1000 posts, the discourse, while spirited, has been quite civil, so maybe we have all learned something.
