LOS ANGELES. -- As one group attempts to use California public schools as laboratories to assist children in "coming out" with their nontraditional sexual orientation, another urges parents to come out from these schools and educate their children with their values at home or in private schools.
Last Sunday, a group called "Exodus Mandate" (www.exodusmandate.org) began placing literature in scores of Southern California church lobbies, urging parents to take charge of their children's education and oppose attempts by activists and politicians to shape young people's worldview in a way that runs counter to what many taxpaying parents believe and teach in their homes and places of worship.
Mr. Gleason says SB 777 has resulted in California schools not being allowed to use the words "mommy" and "daddy" anymore. "Children will be taught that sexual orientation and gender are merely a matter of personal choice," says Mr. Gleason, "and they will be taught to find what is 'right' for them."
The Web site for Mr. Gleason's group argues SB 777 essentially makes it lawful for public schools to "indoctrinate" children as young as pre-kindergarten to accept as normal and morally acceptable homosexuality and "other sexually deviant lifestyles." In addition, says the group, the legislation represents a "complete reversal of 2,000 years of Christian moral teaching on human sexuality, family, and marriage."
Mr. Gleason has a response to questions like, "What about the single mother who can't afford tuition for a private school or spare the time to home school her child?" He offers church families who home-school their children as places where the single mother can put her child. His rationale is simple. "If you're going to send your kids to Caesar, you're going to get Romans back."

The Tree of Liberty is mighty thirsty!
Not a huge homeschooling fan -— I think the child sometimes NEEDS the distance of a teacher who is not a parent -— but I understand the need, given what publik skruls have become.
Are “homschool cooperatives” popping up? E.g., church group meets and delegates out subjects to parent/teachers with some sort of agreed curriculum.
Seems like a good combination of both the coservatism (and affordability) of home school programs AND the benefit of having people who are stronger in any given subject teach that subject.
Well, actually I do understand it. Never mind.
MA ids mulling over a law that would prohibit churches from having this literature available.
As soon as the last righteous man leaves, I am betting an earthquake will occur and swallow Boston — back bay first.
I know of three in my area that have K-8 as well as two private Christian schools that go through high school. All of them seem to be non-denominational churches. This is separate from the Catholic schools in the area.

These ministers do not want to bite the hand that puts money in the collection plate.
The government education industrial complex takes in more money every year than the military ( federal, state, and local combined. It is a TRILLION dollar government complex! That’s a LOT of direct employees, contractors, and suppliers!
In my county the government school is the single biggest employer in the county. They are also many businesses that earn their living by supplying the government schools with goods and services. Even my dentist makes a large part of his living treating school employees with school dental insurance!
Follow the money, and you will soon see why Christian churches are NOT about to open schools.

Unbelievable! Wow! What the liberal/Marxists won’t think up next!
Narses: SB 777 should be of interest to Catholics. ( If only we could resurrect St. John Neumann! I bet he’d have something pithy to say about SB 777. He would also be scratching his head wondering why so many Catholic children are attending government madrassas.
Home school co-ops have been around for years. We were involved with one for several years when the kids were younger.
That’s part of directing your child’s education. There’s no requirement that the parent him or her self, has to do it all.
I pinged a thread about a Cal Thomas article just recently. Is this the same one?
Bad Decision by Second Appellate District of CaliforniaI am so far of the opinion that the problem concerning this issue is not the judges this time but the way that California lawmakers are using common terms in unconventional contexts when writing laws.
But it remains that the real problem may well be the people of California who are seemingly uninvolved in the legislative processes of their state.
It is the same essay, same author, but different title.
What does this mean?
Hmmmmm....alot of schools here teach K-12.
The shame of it is, sane people have to pay to have their kids go there.
So sane people have to pay for private schools AND public schools.
It should be the other way around, where God is unwelcome and pervasive perversions are welcomed, is where the INSANE people should be forced to pay to send THEIR kids.
