Clinton: Be careful what you wish for, Rush By Klaus Marre Posted: 03/05/08 09:30 AM [ET]
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), buoyed by important victories in the Democratic primaries in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island, on Wednesday offered some words of warning to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who had urged Republicans to vote for her as the presumptively easier Democrat to beat.
Be careful what you wish for, Rush, Clinton said on Fox News.
For the second time during this campaign season, the former first lady survived what many viewed as a potential knockout punch from frontrunning Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.). While Obama maintains a significant delegate lead, he was unable to seal the nominations Tuesday night, having to concede another two populous states to Clinton.
By getting the most delegates, by having won twice as many states, by having a lead in the popular vote we feel as if we are on pace to get the nomination, Obama said Wednesday morning in an appearance on the same network. And it will take a little longer than would be true if we werent running against a Clinton, but were still going to end up getting it.
However, instead of being able to focus on Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the newly crowned Republican nominee, Obama must now continue to expend his considerable resources on the Democratic primary.
The Clinton campaign is seeking to use the breathing room the former first lady was given in polling places in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island to map out its path to the presidency, as a memo from strategists Harold Ickes and Mark Penn was labeled.
In the document, the Clinton team says it is time for a second look on the race and the candidates and argued that the momentum has swung

Re: Clinton: Be careful what you wish for, Rush
Wow! For once I agree completely with her.
Rush may wish for McCain to beat her ass, next. Be careful Hillary....
Obama would be far easier to beat in a general election matchup .
I don’t think she can catch him anyway. Rove on Fox this morning said she has to win 53% average of all remaining delegates.
Rush has made a career off Hilary. It would be a disaster for him if she ever faded from the political scene.
Fox news got 800 emails this morning on Fox and Friends who said they crossed over from McCain to vote for Hillary. Altho’ not scientific, looks like Rush had some effect (even tho’ I do not agree with him).
This was the whole point made by Rush that lord McCain spends alllll his time slapping conservatives around for things like using Obama's middle name. Rush knows Hillry won't let Obama get elected as the second coming without exposing who he is. Even lord McCain democrat campaign guy has said he will quit if lord McCain goes negative on Obama.
She did a great job of resetting expectations. She barely won Ohio by as much as she was expecting, her “win” in Texas gets her a LOSS of delegates in all likelyhood. But she still comes out “strong”.
Still, in another week Obama will have two more wins, making his winning streak 16-3. And still, she has most of the media talking about her “comeback”. She was supposed to win Ohio by 20%, and Texas by 10%. She wins Ohio by about 11%, and Texas by 3%, and it’s a “comeback”.
Hillary may be the one person in America today, who hard-core conservatives hate more than they hate McCain.
Rush might be on the right track.
But this poster still would have liked to see Hillary knocked out of the race yesterday.
She’s potentially quite dangerous, to everything America stands for.
Possibly the first honest words she has ever uttered!
I don’t care what the MSM says how delegate count stands, I’ve always felt that the “fix” is in and no matter how the primaries go, Hildbeast will be the nominee. I just wish we had a better Champion for our side!
LOL! Better have that cup of coffe before posting. You look silly.
Rush Limbaugh’s influence in this election and others is vastly over-rated. He has an audience who already thinks like he does. He has little influence outside of this audience.
The MSM, politicians and pundits all assume that the voters are dumber than they are. They may be tragically uninformed, but nonetheless ordinarily they make good decisions in spite of this. It is hard to conceal your intentions and interests when you are in the glare of 24/7 scrutiny.
The SNL appearance helped her, and the "Be careful what you wish for, Rush," line also is pretty good.
I disagree. Hillary is an incredibly polarizing politician. People either love her or hate her. There's very little in the way of middle ground about her. And many more Democrats hate Hillary than they dislike Obama. If it were a Hillary vs. McCain contest, I think McCain would win easily.
On the other hand, if Obama runs against McCain, the race will be reduced to a younger, charismatic liberal vesus an angry, old coot liberal. And the fawning media coverage would all but assure a replay of the 1960 JFK vs. Nixon contest.
Rove is ultimate party hack. It’s never been more clear than since he’s been on FoxNews.
Now that Clinto has been given an opening she will ram through and take this nomination...then it’s on to stealing the general election.
I don;t have a dog in this fight as I refuse to cast a vote mccain, no matter who is opposing him.
I just wish people would wake up and realize that beating back 4 years of Obama nonesense is nothing compared to the evil, executive prvilege Hillary will thrust on this country.
Stock up on bottled water. It’s gonna be a bumpy 4
But she only picked up a net of less than 20 delegates. The bloodletting will continue.
Alos, the caucuses in Texas have yet to be decided. Karl Rove mentioned this morning on FOX that there are still 150 delegates from yesterday to be awarded (didn’t get his math explanation)....just information to pass alsong....
