She will have to win a lot more to command that kind of a deal. When (if) she does that she would be much better served getting someone else, possibly from the South and toward the center, for a running mate. This doesn’t at all make sense.

I suspect that you’re right. Obama may win women and Hispanic support with this deal, voters that might otherwise go to McCain, but he has to watch his back. I really, truly don’t think he will live out his first term if she is his running mate. My husband, a Dem, doesn’t think so either.
This speculation helps me understand something I heard on the radio this morning. One of her campaign aides was asked about last night and he said that it meant they were not out and would have a voice at the convention.
