I think our next president may not be decided by the results of the Democrat primaries.

Yes, it’s usually thought otherwise but imho, this year it will be McCain’s (hopefully) inspired choice as VP, which might decide the election.

Before any FReepers discount McCain’s ability to do so — remember how successfully he wrested the nomination from a huge field of seemingly stronger candidates.

McCain has the potential, for a VP choice masterstroke. Could even win over a lot of conservatives, if he’s really good.

Most likely though, McCain should wait and see who the opposition will be, before making his final move...

"McCain has the potential, for a VP choice masterstroke."

If it gets very ugly between Hillary and Obama, with Hillary winning in the end by appointment from party bosses, I think Michael Steele or JC Watts could be good options for VP. Both are good conservatives who could also attract disgruntled black voters who feel screwed by Hillary and the democrats.

McCain’s got the “fire in the belly” that’s for sure. Say what you like about the man (I like him more than I don’t like him!), but he wanted this nomination badly, and he got it.

The media chose McCain for us by running down all the other candidates or in the case of Hunter, just ignoring him.
