CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- Venezuelan troops mobilized for the Colombian border on Tuesday after President Hugo Chavez ordered 10 battalions to the frontier.
Hundreds of Venezuelan troops were seen boarding four buses and eight trucks at the Paramaracay base in the central city of Valencia on Tuesday morning. A helicopter flew overhead.
A base official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they were heading for the Colombian border, though she didn't specify the location.
Elsewhere, in the northern state of Lara, pro-Chavez Gov. Luis Reyes said Tuesday that batallions in his state were heading for the border.
"There are mobilizations in Lara state toward the border zone," Reyes said.

How intimidating.
Uribe should have the local police arrest them when they get there.
I hope he is stupid enough to do something.
Can’t someone just shoot him?
communist doctrine. take peoples minds off their misery that way.
I think it would be ideal if his demise could be made to look like a terrorist hit from Iran.
Looks like the situation in South America is about to land on the front pages in a big way.
Where are the Medellin and Cali cartels when you need them?
Can we assume Colombian troops are at the border as well or is this a one way “war” or, are they waiting for US troops to do it.
Minister of Agriculture and Lands Elías Jaua Monday said the Venezuelan government has ordered closing down the border with Colombia, following President Hugo Chávez's instructions to move 10 tank battalions to the border area and to expel the Colombian Ambassador and diplomatic staff from Caracas.
"We have made some moves, such as closing the border," Jaua told TV show En Confianza, aired by official television channel VTV, Efe reported.
According to Colombian TV network RCN, the shutdown started to become effective at the bridge linking San Antonio del Táchira, Táchira state, southwest Venezuela, to Colombian town of Cucuta. At the bridge, troops are restricting the passage of cars, but transit has not been cut completely.
Battalions...On Buses. Are they allowed to bring the chickens and goats on board the buses?
It they had paved rodes they could roller skate to the border in a conga line.
What about their wives and 16 kids? They will probably have to ride on the roof.
How far will these assault troops get into Colombia? A mile?

Yes, it is what most totalitarian dictators do when they get the point where it is becoming clear to the people that they have been had, and will continue to be on the receiving end of communism. Chavez needs a red herring -— to take the focus off of his tyranny and typical communist uselessness to the people. I think he is in more trouble than the outside world realizes, and he needs something to take the heat off ——
And when they get there they’ll do what? Sit on their butts, sweat, and get drunk.
That’s hysterical!
