The rap star Juvenile is "shocked and devastated" by the shooting death of his young daughter, the girl's mother and another child, his manager said Saturday.
The 32-year-old rapper is still trying to cope with the death of 4-year-old Jelani; her mother, 39-year-old Joy Deleston; and the woman's daughter Micaiah, 11, whose bodies were found Thursday night in their home, said manager Aubrey Francis.
"It really shocked him and devastated him to the point where I've never seen him before," Francis said. "Right now he is relaxing and trying to grasp everything of what has happened."
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr. is being held in the DeKalb County jail, charged in the deaths of his mother a Gwinnett County sheriff's deputy and siblings at the home near Lawrenceville, outside Atlanta. He was arrested Friday.
Deleston brought a paternity lawsuit in 2004, claiming that Juvenile, whose real name is Terius Gray, was Jelani's father, Gwinnett County court records show. Both parties later agreed Juvenile was the father.
Juvenile, who is in New Orleans, had been making regular child support payments, Francis said.
In 1998, Juvenile released his third album, "400 Degreez," which sold 4 million copies. At one time he was part of the four-man group The Hotboyz, along with Lil Wayne, Young Turk and B.G.
Attorney Randy Kessler, who represented Juvenile in the paternity suit, said Saturday he had not talked with the rapper about the killings.
"Any time you have a situation like that, it's shocking," Kessler said.
Terrell was taken to jail in neighboring DeKalb County to avoid any potential conflict because Deleston worked for Gwinnett County, said Lawrenceville police spokeswoman Illana Spellman. She could not confirm Friday whether Deleston's service weapon was used.
Because of his age, prosecutors cannot seek the death penalty against Terrell. A preliminary hearing will be set next week in Gwinnett County Superior Court, prosecutor Danny Porter said.
Defense attorney Lyle Porter did not return calls Friday and Saturday.
That can’t be good for any [c]rappers “street cred” when your Babiez Momma is a cop.
Looks like someone you’d be proud to know...
He only needs to examine his lifestyle. That would bring understanding. I doubt, however, that the template for accomplishing that examination exists in his mind.
Sad no matter who that happens to.
A shooting? I’m shocked. I thought Juvenile was like Perry Como to those folks.
It’s a tragedy that the innocent kids had to be caught up in this gang-banger lifestyle. But reading the names and relationships of those involved, it’s not shocking to me to see it end this way at all. When the family unit breaks down to this point, it all becomes a Maury/Springer lifestyle and anything goes. Then it’s rule of the streets, where minor disputes get settled by the bullet and the knife.
Oh, he’s really purdy! Sheesh, what a culture. [shakes head]
I just wonder if he is one of those who RAP about killin Ho’s!
He was doing to a cop what many of his listeners believe the cops are doing to them.

So, this 17 year old shot and killed his mother and 2 half-sisters (maybe one was a full sister, who knows?). One of the little girls happened to have been sired by Juvenile. The mother worked as a sheriff's deputy before her death. Got it.
It had to have been easier to report stories before families got so doggone complicated.
“Boy” is accurate.
He looks a lot like Ward Cleaver. I bet he never saw his daughter.
Another “youngster” no doubt inspired by Juvenile’s lyrics. Doesn’t this sort of thing go with the territory? Gangsta behavior doesn’t seem to bother these people when it’s other people’s families being shot up.
Did all the kids have a different last name? Almost certainly.
In another thread here on FR, I was called a racist, bigot for criticiaing the disgusting, dead-end rap culture.
Imagine that.
Even the most hard-talking gangsta rappers (and Juvenile isn't that kind of rapper to begin with) do not rhyme about murdering their own mothers.
Just about the only subject among all MCs, gangsta or otherwise, that is sacrosanct and always treated with respect is one's mother.
MCs like the late Notorious B.I.G., the late Tupac Shakur, Ghostface Killah, etc. all have sappy tracks dedictaed to their moms alongside other tracks about killing their business rivals and romantic rivals.
I doubt there exists a single hip hop track by a black MC in which the MC expresses a desire to kill his own mother.
