Agreed. But the people I'm talking about are not exactly newbies. They are members of my family who grew up (as I did) in an apostate denomination (PCUSA) and (if they are like I was) really need to see the Truth of the Gospel. I spent many years saying I was a Christian without understanding that Christ died for me.

Thank You! One of my pet peeves. Of course those that just mindlessly tout the "judge not..." mantra never really think it out. Every day, all day long, we make judgments. Product A is made better than B. Person A works better/harder/smarter than person B. School A is better than school B. And on and on.
"Attention employees: We will not be giving out any bonuses or raises, since to do so, we would have to judge your work performance, and the Sermon on the Mount says not to judge others...."
I bet that was one heck of an "Wow" moment when God finally opened your eyes and revealed the secrets of the Kingodom of Heaven.
Yes and no. It wasn't a particular moment when I realized, more like a process...but now when I look back and see what I have compared with what I didn't even know I was missing, it's definitely "WOW" inspiring! And that's an understatement :-)
Interesting, but tell me, when have you had nine Sundays after Epiphany?
“.... when have you had nine Sundays after Epiphany?”
I’ll bite! - when??
Barak Obama is as close to the Antichrist as he can get without being the real thing.
If he is elected president, I will know that there is such a blindness and deception in this country that there is no going back and we are finished.
He is only the precursor of what is to come.
Were you referring to this POST?
Yes, the one talking about judging. M
Mary, go back and read again what I wrote. I think you might have missed my point.
Yes, it is scriptural, but it doesn't mean what people want to try to make it out to mean. The scripture does not mean you can not judge others. It just means by whatever means you judge someone expect the same kind of judgement to come back on yourself.
In essence Yeshua is saying be careful about how you judge others.
Well I suppose Brokeback mountain does qualify as a “mount”(no pun intended)...
Can’t imagine, but the ‘79 BCP has propers for that many, not to mention 29 weeks after Trinity. Just gotta wonder, sometimes, it seems.
I was interested in YOUR spin on it.
Our church pastors have taught that very same thing. I believe it. I am concerned with the way Christians on here judge other Christians (read televangelists). We are to judge one another when we see someone in sin, but not to just sit back and criticize everyone they don’t like. Go to a person and speak to them. If they turn you down, take someone else with you. If they still turn you away, then the Bible expects they should be thrown out of the church until they repent. But this constant bickering back and forth about Hagee, Warren, Osteen and others is just wrong, IMHO. If we don’t like them, we need to pray for them.
Thank you for your answer.
Barack Insane Obama.
I already stated my opinion which is a paraphrase of many mainline Christian thoughts on "judging..."
"How do you come to that conclusion?"
Conclusion is from multiple sources but tell me which Christian denomination and I can provide a more relevant answer.
Well, I’m in a non denomination church so that probably wouldn’t help you, but protestant would be as close as I could get on that.
