Clinton escalated her attack on Obamas qualifications to be president on Saturday, arguing that both she and the presumptive Republican nominee, McCain, could offer voters a lifetime of experience while Mr. Obama could only hold out his 2002 speech opposing the Iraq war.
... Mr. Obama, meanwhile, mocked Mrs. Clintons credentials as a self-professed agent of change, saying she had come down on both sides of the Nafta trade deal and criticizing her reasoning for voting in 2002 for the invasion of Iraq.
Real change isnt voting for George Bushs war in Iraq and then telling the American people it was actually voting for more diplomacy, Mr. Obama said ...
As Tuesday nears , Mrs. Clinton has been steadily intensifying direct attacks on Mr. Obamas résumé and raising questions about whether he had the experience and knowledge to keep the nation safe and mobilize the government to aid and protect people.
On Friday, Mrs. Clinton began running an advertisement in Texas suggesting that she would be a far steadier hand answering the red phone in the White House if a crisis broke out. Mr. Obama responded with a similar advertisement of his own, though he also suggested that hers sought to play on peoples fears to try to scare up votes.
... We have real enemies who are sitting in some cave somewhere trying to figure out how to hurt us again, she said. Were not going to be able to ignore the reality of the world in which we live. And we need a president who can become a commander in chief immediately to begin to make the decisions that will make us safer going into the future.
...
We have to win on Tuesday, she said at the event. And we are going to win on Tuesday.

I think it’s time for another Hillary crying fest.
Good assessment.
Hopefully, they'll beat each other so bloody neither will recover

Get the popcorn and beer...
Seriously, we are in trouble if ANY of these candidates succeed ... including McCain.
2008 has become a Twilight Zone nightmare: The GOP has morphed into a disgraceful rubber stamp for liberal policies, and the Democrats are predictably maintaining their steady course towards Marxist socialism. American political philosophy has leaped off a cliff, while we all watch the death plunge and argue over “the lesser of evils”.
This is show biz. It's a game; has to be, if the NYT is reporting it as a fact.
I don’t think Barack is going to ask Hillary to be his VEEP.
I can’t see this going the way of Hillary/Obama on the same ticket.
1) Too much blood has been shed & it’s not an act. I remember when the Lewinski story became evidently true. Her rage has been chronicled, not because Bill cheated, but because he hurt her chances to ascend to the presidency. She played ball for him, it was his turn now and he dissed her.
2) Who would be VP? Obama is on top and she has waited her turn for the top. Nothing else will do, yet Obama leads. If Obama were to lose his lead...
3) If Hillary were to pull out ahead, Obama would be a lousy VP choice. She needs someone right of her and from the South.
I think the most likely outcome is that Hillary becomes irrelevant. Then she has to develop a cause to achieve relevance, like Tip-Toe-Thru-The-Carbon Gore.
However, the evidence so far in no way supports that. So what, he's been made a rock star, a pied piper. By whom? He has rallied people? To WHAT will he point them?
I see it this way: either he'll be really good or really bad. And since there's no evidence he'll be really good...
Again, there are always the unknowns, there's always Providence. But apart from them... I have to keep saying: race, sex, religion and class all seem to meet in his personna, in his rhetoric, in his "legend." Everyone with passions and interest in those 'issues' will be pressuring him to fulfill their "dreams." When he cannot deliver, there will be some very disappointed koolaid drinkers constituents.
Hell hath no fury like a disappointed koolaid drinker.
If he can't deliver, they will be, to put it euphemistically, "restless."
This is why I call him a one-man civil war.
“Too much blood has been shed & its not an act”
I tend to agree. I thought HillObama was a given, but the nastiness has been genuine. The turmoil inside the Clinton Camp wouldn’t exist if this thing was supposed to magically iron itself out. On top of that, we’ve been watching Bill self-destruct. I think we’re seeing the Dems having made their decision. They want the Clintons off the table for good. Much of the old school is holding on in a last act of desperation, but one-by-one, they’re switching their allegiance.
On our side, McCain is gaining traction too slowly. His VP pick will make or break.
Today is Sunday. On Monday, I may have to rethink everything I just wrote. ;)
Send this trash back.
Do you think, that Hillary is toasted in the meantime??! Does not look too good for her right now. Here in Europe we get the MSM-impression that Obama is already the next president.
How do you see the chances of McCain???
Best Regards!
Andreas
P.S.
I was ill for 6 weeks (in hospital with a perilous pyic pleurisy - absolutely not funny) and therefore off line. Now I am still recovering but at least able to run my laptop. :)
I doubt it. For Mr. Clinton it is much easier to live a hedonistic life without being loaded with the status representing the "first man" in the US. Personally I would be quite pis*ed off if I should be trapped in such a "challenge". At least (except of Carla Bruni) most wifes of the world leaders are not that sexy anymore that you want to drink coffee with them during official meetings on a daily base.
If I would be Bill Clinton I would open a bottle of Dom Perignon, call my lawyer for a divorce and give Monica a call to meet me in Bora Bora after Hillary lost the pre-elections. I doubt that the married couple Clinton has a relationship that is worth to be carried on. Bill Clinton has the obligation to help his wife now because of ethical reasons, but he has for sure no personal benefit from it. Do you want to line up for such a gay job (at least we know that Bill is not gay) like being the "first man" of the US??!
I wish you a full recovery.
John McCain certainly has a shot at winning. He is burdened by Bush’s unpopularity, but their past rivalry means he can’t be portrayed as a continuation of the Bush Presidency.
Obama has the support of the media and has a good stump presence, but the public has no idea what he stands for. That can be used against him.
