Submarine officer. If I told you I would have to shoot you.
Figures.
Well, unless you served in WWII, you haven’t seen any combat now have you.
And the only reason I asked is because of some of the remarks you have made.
“but our military superiority has rested, since the Civil War, on our prowess as an industrialized nation, our ability to arm our fighters with more firepower than anyone else?”
That has to be the most ridiculous post I have ever read on FR. The Marines, Sailors, Airmen and Soldiers who fought & died in WWI, WWII, Korea & Viet Nam and the Middle East would disagree with you, Submariner.
Personally, I walked “Point” for the Fifth Marines in Viet Nam in 1969 & 1970 and I can tell you from my COMBAT experience that I served with some of the finest Marines the Corps has ever produced. And we Marines didn’t win firefights & campaigns by having “more firepower.” It took guts. And the current Corps is even BETTER.
“Financial and political capital needed to transform our own economy has been squandered on an overseas adventure.”
“Adventure?”
Is that what you call this? An “adventure?”
You turm my stomach, mister!
We are at war.
And the sooner you wrap that brain of yours around it the better!
We didn’t start this war or have you forgotten 9/11.
But you can bet that we will finish it!
So you can talk all that negative talk you like but I have a hellofalot more faith in America, Americans and God.
So you might as well get used to this WOT because we are going to be at it for a long time.
Good evening, Sailor.
