We know less about Senator Obama than about any prospective president in American history. His uplifting rhetoric is empty, as Hillary Clinton helplessly protests. His career bears no trace of his own character, not an article for the Harvard Law Review he edited, or a single piece of legislation. He appears to be an empty vessel filled with the wishful thinking of those around him. But there is a real Barack Obama. No man - least of all one abandoned in infancy by his father - can conceal the imprint of an impassioned mother, or the influence of a brilliant wife.

He shares the resentment of Muslims against the encroachment of American culture, although not their religion. He has the empathetic skill set of an anthropologist who lives with his subjects, learns their language, and elicits their hopes and fears while remaining at emotional distance.
That is, he is the political equivalent of a sociopath. The difference is that he is practicing not on a primitive tribe but on the population of the United States.

I do however take issue with one thing in the article though:

She doesn't strike me as brilliant. I get the idea that she might be competent and sort of smart if she could get over the hatred, but that limits her.

You open a window into a man’s soul by the women in their life.
The author of this article publishes under the pseudonym “Spengler.” We don’t know who he is, what his background or sources of information are, and, most significantly, what his biases are. I am no fan of Obama, and I suspect at least some of this article is accurate, but I am not prepared to drink, sight unseen, all of the Kool-Aid this fellow is serving.

After reading part of her PhD dissertation, I can feel very comfortable saying she is far from brilliant.
It was an undergraduate thesis, but I do agree that it was a remarkably underwhelming bit of work. I think she did manage to graduate cum laude. Given the quality of the work, this tells me as much about the Princeton sociology department as it does about the author.
Tells you more about the result of kowtowing to affirmative action.
Judging from her writing, she may have been a bit overwhelmed by the rest of the non-affirmative action student body at Princeton. Many such students play a sandbagging game where they pretend to not work very hard and yet still get good grades. More than a few of the brightest actually could get top grades with minimal effort.
Many of her fellow students came from quite wealthy families and would have aspired to be in the elite eating clubs and other high status organizations. There would have been a significant class and cultural gap between her and such students.
She seems to have reacted to all of these differences by retreating into the more comfortable and less challenging embrace of other black students. No doubt the times, her school, and her sociology major all would have steered her to view the many types of differences between herself and other students in primarily racial terms.
Perhaps it was easier for her to redirect her discomfort with being measurably out of her depth into resentment at those so unlike herself. She has said of herself that she was admitted because of affirmative action. She along with all of her black friends would have been acutely aware that the non-affirmative action students tended to view them as not really up to the cut. For those who actually could have made the cut on their own merits, this would have been particularly enraging.
None of this would be worthy our concern if she showed signs of having grown in her later years beyond the egocentricities and narrowness of youth. Unfortunately I have not yet seen many signs that she has. Even more disturbing is that have not yet seen signs that there is much daylight between her resentment driven world view and that of her husband.
