Type I diabetes is an auto immune disease that destroys the cells that produce insulin.

Type II diabetes is usually an condition of excess calories and resistence to the insulin the body continues to make, completely different diseases.

To be fair, you can be thin or of average build and develop Type 2 diabetes. Genetics plays a large part in that. (Obesity doesn't help the situation.)
