Can anyone imagine Obama doing this?

There’s a terrible divide between that person and Commander-in-Chief.

A street organizer having the lives of hundreds of thousands of U. S. men and women of the Armed Forces in his hands, in addition to the 300 million citizens of this nation, is nothing but maddening to contemplate...

I have been a member of FR for several..read a lot of posts, respond to a few, but I can not figure out how to post my own thoughts...When I try to fill out the form to post, I don’t know what to put for the URL, source, etc...Just some things I would like to say without having a specific topic...Any hints on how to fill out all those things it asks for?? if it’s my own post and not from any particular article?

I will comment about your grammar because it caused my eyes to go into double-vision! I didn’t comment on the fluff of your comments because I was at work at the time and could not face taking precious company time to drill holes through inane arguments like yours.

Now the issue at hand is Hezbollah in all of its forms has killed Americans again and again. I won’t get into the EXTENSIVE record they have of attacking the US, highjacking planes, killing military personnel all over the world, and not just in Lebanon. Their record is well documented in the pages of FR.

They have also been directly targeting a government, that if left alone by Hezbollah (Syria/Iran), would favor relations with the Europe and the US.

To have Lebanon and Iraq supportive of our efforts in the Middle East would be a huge advantage. Only willfully blind people would miss the tactical advantage that location would give us. It would also allow Israel to focus on its OTHER borders.

Our “half-assed manner” of fighting this war as you so eloquently stated, has allowed former opponents to see that we aren’t all that bad after all. There are worse forces out there, and the people we are fighting are pure, unadulterated EVIL. Even the Sunnis saw the writing on the wall as their families were being killed BY THEIR ‘SAVIORS’.

By “half-assing” this war, we now have “concerned citizen” groups numbering hundreds of thousands working on our behalf, so they can enjoy improved infrastructure, political system, etc.

Do I agree with keeping troops in Germany, Japan, Korea, etc? No. Do troops serve a purpose there? Yes.

Ask yourself this- Is Russia still Communist? Does Russia want a confrontation with the West? Ask the same questions about China?

Do I like going to war, or being sent all over the globe just to keep your sorry ass from having face a draft board? No. Unless of course if gives me the opportunity to take out those that have been at war with our country, and our way of life for more than 40 years. Then I sign on the dotted line, take my oath, and place as many rounds into those evil bastards as possible.

As for my record, I’ve been in for 20+ years, have been to Panama, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia, Kuwait, Iraq (OIF1-2), and will be headed back to Iraq again in the next year or so. I have a stake in the game, I’m not so sure you remember what that is like.

You say the Founding Fathers never imagined this. I concur. At the same time they never imagined it taking only a few hours to cross the Atlantic Ocean. They never imagined space flight. They never imagined airliners being used as weapons against civilian buildings.

You are right they never imagined our ‘entanglements’ that we have now.

Except, of course Thomas Jefferson. Or did you forget about his “foreign entaglements” as the ‘pirates’ (Muzzies) were looting and burning our ships on the high seas? He sent the Marines to Tripoli. Or is that not in your history books?

Why do you mention “The first Iraq War” alongside Vietnam and Korea? These are completely different examples. A country had been invaded, not split apart like Korea and Vietnam. We worked with dozens of countries. We did exactly what the pin-headed libs and weak-stomached politicians wanted, we kicked the Iraqis out of Kuwait.

You say I used a “Democrat tactic”. There is nothing more “Democrat” than to barf all over everyone, and to such a degree that no one can tell what was being said. Good job.

Oh by the way, we aren’t “in” Panama anymore, and I’m sure I can point out a few spots on the map that we don’t have troops. Not that any of it really matters to a terrorist abetting tool like yourself.

‘The more I see what has become of today’s McCainiac Republicans, the more convinced I am that I want no part of the ugly group that they truly are.’

You assume I am a McCainiac. I am conservative who votes Republican. Despite that I will vote for McCain because the alternative is worse.

Your Nam Navy time must be similar to Kerry’s, you have the same viewpoint.

At least you chose to debate the issues, unlike so many who posted here. But you still insert a bunch of snarky, witless garbage in your “arguments”, such as they are.

Sonny, YOU started the snarky comments, I merely kept the ball rolling. If you want to see "snarky" go back and read your OWN FIRST MESSAGE.

To begin with, I never said any of that. YOU did. But your straw man polemical tactic is what the Democrats are famous for. But I guess, in today’s Republican circles, such things have become common, too.

That is what you commonly call "sarcasm". It was in response to your original snarky comments. *I* don't believe that, you apparently DO however, and if you can't see why I would think that, then why don't you actually try READING what YOUR wrote to begin with. The problem here with you wanting to argue with me about MY comments, is you started off rudely here - NOT ME.

“Well, it’s not about invading, it is about “FAIR ELECTIONS”. Keeping things “democratic” ought to be right up your alley.”

Well, keeping things fair IS right up my alley. I spent my time in the service. How about you?

Where does it say in the US Constitution that whether or not any other country on earth has “FAIR ELECTIONS” is the reponsibility of the United States government?

Good question. But remember that if we DO NOT do anything, look what will happen. I suppose I was actually right in my first comments, you want us to bring the troops home and IGNORE all political situations out there, whether they are good or bad for AMERICA. That would be fine I'm sure. We won't be attacked by foreign invaders any time soon since everyone likes the US so much. I'm sure ignoring all those human rights issues out there with countries like Kosovo and Serbia would be just fine.

I want to know why it is every time someone says something about the welfare of people in other countries, suddenly we become "globalists". I'm all for a "global government" if it is the United States running it. I'm all against a global government if it is anyone else.

The United States has shown itself over and over to be fair minded and PEACEFUL until some dumbass flys a plane into a building. Hell, we even let Americans sit as hostages for FARC for the past five years without doing $H!T about it. Imagine that, Americans being held hostage in a stinking, steaming jungle, with no contact with other Americans for FIVE years, and we didn't do Jack about it. And you're WHINING because we're sending some ships to sit off the coast of some God-forsaken country??????

Again, YOU said this, not me. My position is that if this war was important enough to fight, you know, a “war for survival” like I read in the papers, then why haven’t we committed the military resources to prevail after seven years, and counting. It took less than four years during WWII to sweep from one end of the globe to another, fighting against three industrial powers. Can you bring yourself, in all of your snarky, baseless retorts, to comment on that?

We DID commit to this War on Terror. Are you worried you might get caught in a draft or something? Is that why you're whining so much? Probably. We're committed to winning this - it isn't me and you, it's CONGRESS that doesn't seem to want to put out the money for it. The PRESIDENT said we were committed to it, and asked for the funding. Congress is divided right down the middle. Don't you read?

As for your other baseless comments regarding WWII, you can't compare the two things. WWII had named players, and nations involved. Terrorists don't admit to being in one country or another -- so you fight them as you find them. I would imagine you've got zero sense of the strategic or for that matter, even a tactical sense of what this war is about. It IS a war of survival... Western Civilization versus Radical Islam. This is not a simple "war" like world war two was. The sooner you come to realize this, the easier it will be for you to accept that we're in this for the duration. We stop when the Democrats get in office, and we're done. For good. This kind of garbage is right out of the Democrat playbook. My position, which is not what you want to hear, must be dismissed out-of-hand by attempting to discredit me. Sort of like “shoot the messenger”.

I have no need of "play books". I am NOT a democrat, even when I was a registered democrat at 18 years old (for one year) I wasn't a Democrat. I was then and am now, a Conservative. But, we're not here to discuss ME, we're here to discuss YOU. Shoot the messenger? First off, YOU ARE NOT A MESSENGER, you're a Libertarian, Ron Paul supporter who is disgruntled because Ron Paul is a nutter and you're losing and you dived into a CONSERVATIVE forum to scream and shout (read your FIRST MESSAGE again!) and you got precisely what you deserved - slammed for your idiotic world view, lack of vision, loud-mouthed attacks on the US Government in general and you expect to be treated with kid gloves? I don't think so.

Oh, is Blackelk calling for HELP because he can’t fight his own battles alone? You don’t walk into a bar, throw a punch at each person as you enter and expect to walk back out unscathed.

As for “McCainac Republicans” are you call them... you’re talkin’ to the wrong crowd. I’m not voting for McCain, nor Obama or Clinton. I’m going to fight this battle differently, this time around. It’s called “Senate”. That’s what most people are doing who have a lick of sense, not supporting RON PAUL like LoudElk. Good grief.
