When did the rules change? I recall FDR, JFK, LBJ, HHH, RMH, GRF

John Quincy Adams, William Henry Harrison, Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Begging your pardon, but it was Harry S Truman, not Harry S. Truman. His legal middle name was “S”. http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/ht33.html

Many Presidents did not use or the public chose to ignore their given first names: Stephen Grover Cleveland, Thomas Woodrow Wilson, John Calvin Coolidge. So it is entirely proper to refer to Sen. Obama as Hussein Obama. End of story.

The public can call him anything it wants to after BJ Clinton and Monkey Bush have been used in the media by both sides of the aisle.
