Actually 2 Burkes and a Ticonderoga class cruiser. Therefore, more missiles. ;)
Actually, I was speaking about radio talk show host Glen Beck.....he’s the one who has the gut feeling, not me personally.
I believe Glen was trying to make a connection between Al-Queda terrorists gathering in Gaza and the implication that
an attack on Israel would be retaliation for the recent assassination in Lebanon of the terrorist responsible for the Marine barracks bombing in October, 1983.
No, they DO understand. They actively want the US to get it's butt kicked, so they can say- "See what a bad president and military force we have. Now you have to elect us."
Those LHA assault ships are the size of WWII fleet carriers. 11 CVN + 13 LHA = 24 carriers in service. Criminy that’s nice.
shaping up to be some interesting times in the Middle East . .
Id imagine the Nassau isnt traveling alone but with her group . . . isnt that more than 3 ships?
~~~
True Dat,,,
IIRC there are at least 3 in that group,,,
CVN 73 must be in that area by now,,,
Eastern Med. getting crowded...;0)
Silent service?
My oldest bro served on the Kitty Hawk CVA63 in the Gulf of Tonkin during WWNam.
Last I counted those Ospreys had killed 30!
John Mark Karr. (Am I allowed to use his middle name?)
Mugniyah was rubbed out in Damascus.
When I saw this headline, I thought Kosovo, not Lebanon.
The middle ship is DDG 84 Bulkeley, and it belongs to the same DESRON as the USS Cole. I can’t make out the hull number of the trailing ship though.
So that could very well be the three ships mentioned.
That’s still isn’t much firepower since the Nassau carries 1100 ground troops with roughly 900 more for aviation support.
Unless they add a carrier battle group to that....Then maybe you have something.
Yes, I meant to poke fun at G. Beck, sorry if I did not phrase my comment well and seemed to be criticizing you, did not mean to at all. Thanks!
My first memory of Chuck Heston was from the backseat of my Dad's 1950 Torpedo Chevy fastback that had venetian blinds in the back window and a flat space there I could nap on long drives. My Dad, Mom and I, all of 5 years old, were at a drive in watching 1952's The Greatest Show on Earth where Chuck played Brad Braden, the hard as nails circus ramrod.
A story Heston told often was that a fan wrote a letter to Cecil B. DeMille on how much she enjoyed The Greatest Show on Earth and commented, "And I'm surprised how well the circus manager (Heston) worked with the real actors." Heston thought it was one of the best reviews he ever received.
My next memory of him was three years later in 1955's The Private War of Major Benson where he is a young Patton type caught by the news media saying "We've got to take these milkshake drinking boys and turn them into whiskey drinking soldiers!" He is banished to a junior high military academy and hijinks begin!
Mainly that showing I fell deeper in love with Julie Adams as Heston love interest in the picture. I had first given Julie my heart in 1954's Creature from the Black Lagoon. And to this day, I still have the hots for her and she is still a good looking babe!
Charlton Heston had a great film career playing more real figures of history that any other actor. His many films brought me much, much enjoyment over a span of 50 plus years and I still find his films better than most made today.
In his later years, Heston's work to support the NRA and the Second Amendment will keep him in my hearts until it beat no more.
Nowadays, I pray for Heston in his time of troubles with Alzheimer's. My God provide the very best for him.
Nothing from the UN, EU, NATO or Israel. Very strange.
He’s been a great actors that’s for sure. In Gray Lady he did the subs Captain’s part well also.
Israel Supporter bttt and placemark
hmm any Aegis cruisers?
I don’t know what that means.
