When television showed the burning American Embassy in Belgrade and crawling APCs (carrying Serbian policemen who had no desire to disperse Serbs with Molotov's cocktails), I wondered how soon will the Americans recall international law and the Vienna Convention, which safeguards the immunity of diplomats and embassies? They were very quick.
But an appeal by Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns to the Serbs to respect international law sounded somewhat ridiculous. What is he talking about? He and his colleagues violated it themselves last Monday by recognizing Kosovo's independence.
It is strange to hear words of indignation when the situation developed exactly the way he wanted it to. Okay, let's agree that Kosovo is a unique case. The burning of the embassy is a unique reply to Kosovo's unique independence. There is no need to draw any parallels or get worried. This exception will not spread to other parts of the world - other embassies cannot be burned, and this case is truly unique.
Let's repeat this idea once again. Having taken part in the annexation of part of a sovereign state, the United States is angry that someone wanted to occupy or even burn down part of its own territory - the embassy. The Department of State has justifiably appealed to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. But what about the UN Charter, which guarantees territorial integrity of sovereign states? Having recognized Kosovo's independence, Washington has openly violated Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. So, why is it angry at a Serbian student who did a similar thing to the U.S. Embassy? Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

What is wrong with you? Can't you get it right the first time?...Hoplite :-)/ sarc.
The majors of the international community think that since the major countries have ganged up and established a consensus amongst themselves, to remove a part of Serbia and give it to Islamic thugs, that their consensus alone must be good enough to afford them the moral right to ignore a countrys sovereignty regardless of what the law states. They think it also affords them the right to do what they want with a minority of people that live in Europe because they do not fit in with the majority and they dont have the means to do anything about it.
Within our generation the US government institutions had the same approach to its black minority before it evolved into a more civilized and semi-tolerant society. For years and years the system was such that the majority placed the minority under its feet just because they could. Blacks had no recourse because the system allowed for such atrocities and Anglos were not about to police themselves because they benefited from the position blacks were in. The UN, NATO and EU are much the same kind of systemic criminal opportunists.
The same thing is happening to the Serbian people who are regarded in Europe much like the black population was regarded in America for generations, devolved and uncivilized. But the fact is the EU concept has not evolved enough to honor the sovereignty of countries outside of its fraternity. Serbia has nobody to turn to that she may file a suite and seek justice against the UN, NATO and EU system because she is not a part of the fraternity.
Even if there was recourse for Serbia, the US doesnt recognize the ICC because they say it may be used politically. Well, then i guess we know what happened in the Hague then by their own admission. Hypocritically the US thinks the ICC is good for other countries. In fact there is the kangaroo court in the Hague that is perfect for justifying the systemic corruption of the elites.
Even if Serbia wins a case in the world court who is going to enforce the return of Kosovo to Serbia? Nobody. The international fraternity who did this to Serbia is the one who has established the system that allows them to do so. There are no checks and balances. No accountability. This is an empire.
The world is headed toward more conflicts and problems because the institutions that are designed to uphold international laws and ensure that small countries are not subject to the whims of the mighty are the very ones who have perverted their purpose and have had their hands in on crimes that are brutal abuses of power. The Kosovo theft is a crime and the majors know it.
No matter what institutions rise up in the name of peace and cooperation they will never be able to remove greed, corruption, political interests from any of them. The UN, NATO and EU are political institutions that do not have the least amount of interest in laws that stand in the way of their own global interests.
Bad guys obviously, at least since Putin took over. Putin has terrorized the opposition to the point no one is willing to run against his puppet. The coming election will be staged, not held.
The only problem with this statement is that Mackenzie is telling the simple truth while Gutman and Margolis are spreading Islamic terrorist propaganda. No wonder they had to be payed so much. Lying is always harder then telling the truth. Selling out your countrymen to Islamic terrorists is even harder.
Excellent post. Very well stated and accurate. If the ICC had any legitimacy Bill Clinton would be facing charges of war crimes there along with leaders of the other NATO nations who participated in this elitist thuggery. George Bush has now made himself complicit in it too. Our country can be wrong and in this case we are very wrong.
Has FR declared independence from stupidity and overrated self aggrandizing egomaniacs? We certainly are living in "interesting" times.
As of right this minute, I'm not so sure...Are you?
I’m sure he is now diligently hunting down sitings of Destro on the internet, he wants his pimp back.
