That’s a good idea. Do you think McCain and Cunningham are the sorts of fellows that can resolve personal differences though? McCain carried a sort of hatred for Bush for years and hurt his own political interests acting on it in some critical votes and moments. I hope McCain is not as stupid and vain as he seems to be from a distance. Cunningham jumped right on the opportunity to promote himself and attack McCain.
Cunningham jumped because McCain’s rebuke, if you look at the text of it, accused Cunningham of reprehensible behavior.
McCain went way overboard in his attack on someone who was trying to help him out.
It would’ve been better to have said in a light tone, “Well, Bill and I disagree on using the Hussein middle name, but we’re both conservatives and on the same team. I realize he was warming up a crowd for a political event.”
