Huckabee is McCain’s Judas Goat, he’s keeping all the sheep in line until the convention, when he will ask them all to fall on their own swords and support McCain.

My guess is that McCain is trying to separate himself from the conservatives as much as possible because he thinks that he has a better chance of picking up the Hispanic vote and the anti Obama vote if he separates himself. That’s where Huckabee comes in. He holds the base and keeps them engaged so that they don’t just give up and withdraw. McCain figures that if he can keep the conservatives thinking about the federal election, that they will give up and vote for him eventually.

Nice try, Eva!!

Truth IS...Suckabee is NOT a conservative and he DOESN’T have the base—he has only evangelicals. He is quickly becoming a non-issue in the race. It’s over, McNasty will be the nomineee. But Suckabee’s playin’ it like the little boy who can’t admit defeat. That certainly isn’t going to produce respect from the base!

I don’t think you are right. It makes little sense to think that the McCain campaign wants Huckabee to remain in the race. McCain even asked to have spending limits from public financing removed . . . and he wants that spending against his general election opponent and for himself, not directed by the state contests in the primaries.
