Mega-Church Pastor in Texas Backs McCain

By Elisabeth Bumiller

SAN ANTONIO — Senator John McCain got support on Wednesday from an important corner of evangelical Texas when the pastor of a San Antonio mega-church, Rev. John C. Hagee, endorsed Mr. McCain for president.

Mr. Hagee, who argues that the United States must join Israel in a preemptive, biblically prophesized military strike against Iran that will lead to the second coming of Christ, praised Mr. McCain for his pro-Israel views.

“John McCain has publicly stated his support of the state of Israel, pledging that his administration will not permit Iran to have nuclear weapons to fulfill the evil dreams of President Ahmadinejad to wipe Israel off the map,'’ Mr. Hagee said at a news conference at the Omni Hotel in San Antonio.

Mr. Hagee also praised Mr. McCain for his “solid, pro-life voting record for the past 24 years.'’

Hagee should know that Torah states that ALL nations will turn against Israel in acharit hayamim (end of days - end times), and that would include America.

So does the Bible; Joel 3:2, Zephaniah 3:8, Zechariah 12:3 and 14:2, Revelation 16:14.........

If America were to attack Israel, it would be because liberals/socialists/marxists were in charge.........

I am pleased to see that the U.S. Constitution is more important to Hagee than Huckabee's preaching license.........

Anyone who has been fooled into thinking that John McCain is in any real sense pro-life should watch this clip, and listen very carefully to the lies and deception McCain is spewing.

Obama supports their killing even after they’re out of the womb.

bet the dems try to have Hagee shut down.

Only democrats are allowed to use churches for politics.

From the text of the article: "Mr. Hagee said at a news conference at the Omni Hotel in San Antonio."

Since it was at the hotel, they can't say anything.

The DVD version of Epicenter features Dr. Tim LaHaye of the Left Behind series. So it's big in the Evangelical/End Times crowd, and really is quite fascinating to see how the prophecies in the Bible/Koran are converging.

In the 70's it was Russia v. Israel. Now it's Iran v. Israel. The Bible says that it will be God and Israel against everyone else on the planet.

Hagee seems to have this idea that the United States must help Israel in order for God to fulfill his promises. Wrong.

The United States is in the process of self destructing. If we continue in our slide toward Gomorrah, we will no longer exist as a Nation long before Christ returns in Glory.

Hagee is a wacko. If I was McCain, I wouldn’t be too eager or happy to associate myself with this guy.

He is definitely NOT a wacko! He does NOT sugar coat the Word of God. I guess it makes some of you people nervous because it convicts you. I have always known him to preach/teach straight from the Bible. What are your credentials that you can judge him?

I know Hagee. He’s holding his nose just like the rest of us.

If you happen to know (or if you're able to find out) this about Hagee, I would be very interested in your telling me the real reason he did this, when Mike Huckabee is an option.

Seriously -- please tell me if you happen to know.

I’ve read five Hagee books and I have his prophecy Bible and never once heard him or saw him say that. Maybe I missed it somewhere or maybe he is being misquoted.

When I said I know Hagee, I do not know him personally. I read a lot of his books and his prophecy Bible. I meant that what I know “of him” I don’t picture him loving the very Liberal McCain. So that leaves me with the thought that he is feeling a lot like me right now. The lesser of three evils, is how I see it. I’d at least rather have John McCain picking Supreme Court Judges that the witch or Muslim guy.

Hagee is the leading Christian Zionist of the Armageddon lobby who preaches a false doctrine of salvation on another basis other than the Gospel for the Jewish people. I wouldn't’t trust him on eschatology any farther than I can throw him.

Here is an article I found a while back regarding John McCain and his faith:

http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/1018/p01s06-uspo.html

John McCain: keeping faith, on his own terms

McCain says he is not “born again” and has not been baptized. He says he is “just a Christian,” who for many years has been attending the North Phoenix Baptist Church in Arizona with his family. He was raised in the Episcopal Church and attended Episcopal High School, an elite boarding school in Alexandria, Va., where he was required to attend chapel every morning and church on Sunday. At the US Naval Academy, church attendance was also required.

and...

Still, McCain is not likely to become the darling of the religious right. He’s a reliable opponent of abortion rights, though he is not vocal about it. He supports research on human embryos left over from fertility treatments, a position that puts him at odds with religious conservatives. The same is true of his opposition to an amendment to the Constitution banning gay marriage. During the 2000 campaign, McCain famously dissed top leaders of the Christian right, but this time around, he has reached out to that wing of the GOP.

*************

Wow! The tone of this thread sure has been different than the one where Huckabee spoke at Hagee’s church. Seems to be okay with most that Hagee endorses McCain but most thought it was horrible when Huckabee only preached at Hagee’s church.

That being said, I think Hagee is an excellent pastor regarding endtimes issues and I for one, don’t understand his endorsement for McCain based on life issues since McCain is for embryonic stem cell research.

Looks like Dr. Dobson is one of the few staying true to his word on life issues.

Wow! Watching it, I wonder if we should not provide equal time for Satan at our church. We should be a religion of inclusion and there seems to be a place for Satan in most churches anyway. Hmmmm, I guess I should mention this is sarcasm. Thanks, EV.

Thank you for your clarification. That doesn’t explain why he would favor McCain over Huckabee (who spoke at his church just a few weeks ago).

Huckabee is the only candidate who has expressed that any “Palestinian State” should exist outside of Israel’s borders.

Hagee appears pretty hypocritical to those in the know about Huckabee — and that would include many in Hagee’s congregation.

The word “ALL” is a synecdoche and represents some of ALL, many people try to apply ALL to ALL

If you asked someone from New Orleans what happened, they would probably say everything was covered by water. If their words were accurately reported and remembered, their g-g-great grandchildren would think the whole world was flooded...
