my mistake, he was born in the Arizona territory before it became a state - but the issue was raised during the campaign, and would be analogous to being born in the Canal Zone.

Drinking Coffee "Well they obviously knew his birthplace when they endorsed him."
Of course they knew. They just run an article like this to fill empty column inches and then sit around late at night and watch the heads of FReepers explode.  We are their ant farm. :-)

my first reaction is...they KNEW this when they endorsed him, didn’t they?

Well, of course, but that is NOT the point /s

How bogus. The Canal Zone was a US territory until Jimuh did it in.

Irrelevant. It was US territory but not incorporated into the US. But irrelevant anyway, see my previous posts.

They were/ are American citizens, I am just wondering about the elegibility issue, him being issued his status via
Congressional mandate and not by the constituion being ratifyed.

A child born on the premises of such a facility is not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States and does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth.”

I imagine the intent of this policy is to make it clear that children born to non US citizens on U.S. military installations abroad and U.S. diplomatic or consular facilities do not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth.

And conceding the W.H. to Obama to install 200-400 federal judges and 2-5 SCOTUS justices does WHAT for conservatism?

The President, whoever he is, will get the bulk of his judges confirmed.

Hillary and Bill Clinton are both inelligible for a third term as co-presidents.

Bill has admitted he’s running again and will sit in on cabinet meetings. Hillary has claimed credit for her role in the 1990s White House.

The amendment doesn’t say you have to BE president, just acting as president. Hillary fulfilled that role with her Health Care hearings.

"Until 18, you have dual citizenship. At 18, you choose."

The United States of America does not recognize dual citizenship. Some other country might, not the U.S.A.

John SIDNEY McCain!

(I wonder if his middle name offends anyone?)

Better that than Adelaide...or Darwin.

analogous to being born in the Canal Zone.

Analogous but with one difference. Arizona was incorporated, the Canal Zone was not. But otherwise you are right, the only question is whether he was born an American citizen or whether he was naturalized. He was natural-born.

They picked our candidate and now must try to destroy him. It's a stategy that gives them some compromise.

After foisting McCain upon us (I will vote for McCain) the truly despicable NY Slimes publisher, "Pinch" Sulzberger, is engaged in an all out fraudulant campaign to destroy his candidacy.

"Pinch" back from the NY bar scene:

How the hell can there be almost 200 posts about a headline?!

That's what's making this whole campaign season so fun! It's nearly all about nothing! Unfortunately, on the rare occasion that they all get down to issues, well, they're all pretty far to the left of me.

McCain will apologize to the Slimes for being born at a military base outside the US.
If McCain doesn’t start fighting back, his loss will be from his own doing.

We should call this Presidential campaign the Seinfeld campaign.

I was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania to American citizen parents. With all this sillyness, I’m beginning to wonder if I’m a native born citizen.

With my ggggg-grandparents being german immigrants in the 1730's, I'm wondering if the NYT would consider me a citizen too!
