After the police took a pass on him - he wound up being reassigned to a church in Rome where he does not have the responsibilities associated with his old position.


He was a cardinal here and now, he’s a cardinal there. ‘Does not have the responsiblities associated with his old position’ is a crock given that the position is the same.

True, but with important differences.
He was previously presiding over a large diocese, which involved jurisdiction over many churches, many priests, and many religious orders.
More territory - more authority - more stature.

He is now a glorified fundraiser for a basilica in Rome.

While most people think this is still too cushy a situation for him and would prefer for him to sit in a cell - he still has fallen far from the respected position he once had.
