Where's Bill? Clinton camp keeping him out of media's eye

WASHINGTON — Bill Clinton's been spending a lot of time in small-town Ohio. He's heading to Rhode Island on Thursday. From there, he may head back to some of the lesser-known dots on Ohio's map, probably Marion or Mansfield. Is this any way for a campaign to use a former president of the United States? Sure, because it's a way to keep him out of the media spotlight and still be useful to his wife's White House bid. "The Clinton campaign is sending Bill to safe places, to small cities where a visit by a former president is a really big deal," said Darrell West, a professor of political science at Brown University in Providence, R.I.

Overheard on the campaign trail:

BILL CLINTON: Jeez, James. She's got me on a very short leash. I think one of my agents is really one of HER agents. He follows me everywhere 24/7. When I go into a stall in the men's room, he checks me out over the door with one of those periscope thingies. I think he's taping every move I make. I mean, I want to party with some wild ladies before I dry up. I can't breathe, man.

JAMES CARVILLE: She's still got the mojo, Bill. Price you pay. Maybe when this is all over, the pressure eases. Tell you what. Promise her you'll redouble your efforts through next Tuesday and that you won't refill your Viagra prescription any time soon.

CLINTON: Might work. You know, she said something odd the other day. Got a bad feeling about it. Yesterday, before the debate, her hair stylist asked her what her pleasure was, and she looked hard at me and said, ''bob it.'' What was that about?

CARVILLE: Watch your back, man. Your front, too.

S/off

Hillary probably found him a young fat gal to diddle with so he won’t be campaigning for her. May be too late.

As I recall, it was about this time in the ‘92 campaign when Herself the Cold and Joyless disappeared after making her comments about “Two for the price of one” and “I’m not going to stay home and bake cookies”.

I do believe that Herself, the Cold and Joyless, is a little ashamed of him.

Way late in the game to be shutting him up, but you do what you can.

The Clintons are finally figuring out that, as far as the press is concerned, they are no better than republicans.

The press has decided it wants Obama elected. Not only are they not covering for Hill and Bill anymore, they are doing what the do with us - searching for the smallest missteps or actively creating controversery where none really exists for them, while ignoring far worse in their favored candidate.

Maybe Bill figured out he does more harm than good, when he’s out there turning purple and having temper tantrums. Bill’s the kind of person who loves to hear himself talk, so it’s got to be hard for him to butt out.
