I guess the Fire Chief’s ladder wasn’t tall enough for his boyfriend.

The Dennis T. Sullivan Memorial Fire Chief's Home, which honors a fire chief engineer killed in the 1906 earthquake and fire, was built in 1923 and is an official San Francisco landmark. The current chief, Joanne Hayes-White, is believed to be the first fire chief not to live in the house.

The boyfriend is the new city planning director - that's rich enough - not the fire chief who, I hasten to note, is a politically correct female, probably a lesbian.

From an earlier article on the subject:

Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White does not live in the home at 870 Bush St
I suspect that the Fire Chief is in no danger of having a boyfriend run amok at her house. Since she doesn't use the house, the City used to let high-ranking bureaucrats use the house as a place to crash. They may want to re-think that policy.
