And if he gets elected, like his predecessor, he will try to push amnesty through.
Wanna bet that at the end of his first 4 years the borders are just as porous as they are now? Wanna bet that at the end of his 8 years (if he lives that long) the borders are just as porous as they are now? Wanna bet that at the end of his presidency just as many, if not more, illegals will have been allowed to flood over the borders and his predecessor allowed?
But hey, he has an R after his name so he must be okay. [Yeh, right. So did his predecessor.]

I dont trust certification by border state governors, either. Lets have some criteria, other than having buddies say its been done. We already heard the President promise to do this, but it has yet to be done.
Bush & Co. have no intention of securing the borders. Bush is leaving it for someone else to fix.
Several months ago Michael Chertoff stated that they would not have operational control of the borders until 2012.

If you give McCain a choice between betraying his friend Teddy or the conservative base, he’ll betray the conservative base any day of the week.
This means nothing. He was already running while he was co-sponsoring McCain Kennedy. That’s why he didn’t have time to attend any of the later meetings or read the documents.

"He's in an excellent place with conservatives who are concerned about immigration, because his position that he'll secure the border first and have that security certified by the border-state governors, and then we'll go back and deal with the 12 million seems to have satisfied most people,"
Read as: If we lie long enough, we think that conservatives will buy the whoppers we're shoveling. We'll tell them that we'll "secure" the border without specifying what "secure" means. Then, we'll grant the 20 million or so who are already here amnesty. That will satisfy most people... as long as they are illegal aliens or democrats.

"He's in an excellent place with conservatives who are concerned about immigration, because his position that he'll secure the border first and have that security certified by the border-state governors, and then we'll go back and deal with the 12 million seems to have satisfied most people," said Charlie Black, a McCain adviser. This comment by Black illustrates the contempt these political insider elitists have for the American voter, and especially conservatives.
Morons like Black (who was principal public spokesman for President Bush in the 1992 presidential campaign, and you know where that went) think we are stupid brainless vassals whom they can manipulate at will. "That seems to have satisfied most people" he said. How would he even know - he doesn't even talk to normal people!
The truth is that McCain has not changed a single position on amnesty and open borders. He does not bother to define or quantify "securing the border", other than a vague statement by 4 pro-illegal alien border governors that "everything looks good here, man!" He won't define a threshold or measurable indicator.
And once that border has been magically "secured" he will press for amnesty for - let's get real on this number - upwards of 40,000,000 illegals, which current laws will allow to bring in another 60-80,000,000 siblings, spouses, parents, and children.
Of course, Charlie Black and his ilk will continue to live in his gated community of million dollar homes.
McCain will win the war? So what. All that will be doing is expending a huge treasure of American lives to protect a nation of foreigners.
If we won't even fight the war at home, why the hell fight the one over there? Al Qaida won't be interested in attacking an America that looks like Argentina or Nicaragua.

We don't need another McCain Meaningless Monologue on the subject.
As a sitting Senator you can actually DO something. You can move immediately to re-write The Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act, otherwise known as McCain-Kennedy, and secure our borders.
Oh, and should you be listening, you might want to try this novel and daring approach ...team up with a conservative.
