We had semi-conservative and conservative LITE presidentional frontrunners and Democrat majorities before, but it is the first time now that conservatism itself has been redefined along the big government, perpetual war lines. Sure there are talented journalists and always will be, but there is little doubt in my mind that conservatism itself is in crisis.

You’re right. What passes for ‘conservatism’ now is indistinguishable from the Great Society liberalism of LBJ and Hubert Humphrey. Talk about a dumbed-down age. The best thing for conservatism would be for it to return to the obscurity it once enjoyed, and then maybe the herd of liberal opportunists plaguing it might return to their homes.
