(IN-07 Special) The Prince of the City (Andre Carson)
American Spectator ^ | 2/27/2008 | RiShawn Biddle

He is also is dogged by suspicions about his ties to the Islamic community, especially after Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan essentially endorsed the younger Carson during a eulogy at his grandmother's funeral two months ago...

OVER A FIVE-DECADE career, Julia Carson parlayed her ties to the United Auto Workers union and her mentor, former Congressman Andy Jacobs, into a powerful coterie of churches and political officials that took control of one of the nation's few urban Republican strongholds.

Her power was hard-won. Carson grand-mere worked all the angles, from sending out condolence letters to grieving constituents to cutting through the bureaucratic red tape of the welfare system, to accusing her opponent during her last congressional race of having "beat his wife into a pulp." [Indianapolis businessman Eric Dickerson - NOT the football player]

Carson fils is a onetime rapper, former state excise police officer and flunky in the state's homeland security agency. He snagged his only political office -- a seat on Indianapolis' city-county council -- after one of his grandmother's proteges resigned when it was revealed that he didn't live in the district. Although physically imposing, the soft-spoken youngster lacks his grandmother's authoritativeness.

RiShawn Biddle is a former columnist for the liberal Indianapolis Star and is never afraid to call it as he sees it.

All the more reason to support Jon Elrod in the upcoming special election on March 11th. Carson is supported by the DCCC, almost every labor union in the country, even the New York Longshoreman's Union.

If I do my math correctly, this guy was in his early twenties when the planes went through the buildings. Is there a reason he has been staying in Indiana watching young men his age deploy to combat?

A liberal “political media analyst” has it Andre winning 50-30. Many other politicos though are doubting the validity of that poll. One internal poll claimed it was “within margin of error” but again few have seen the numbers.

The parties themselves are keeping internal polling real close. Andre is out like gangbusters on the media fronts. He’s also getting the CBC to act as his ATM machine.

Jon Elrod has a very solid chance.

Which guy? Andre Carson is 33. Jon Elrod is 30. Andre supports “cut and run”. Jon supports letting the commanders decide when to withdraw.

I’m glad that Mr. Biddle is still writing and observing the scene in Indianapolis. I stopped readign the Star after he left.

The national dems are putting a lot of money in this race.
Carson has wall-to-wall tv, print, and radio ads.
Elrod has none at all that I’ve seen.
Of course Peterson had the same advantage & lost.

Well it’s all race-based to the blacks in Indy. They’d elect Hitler if he was black. They have wrecked a lot of neighborhoods, and blame republicans. It’s pretty sad - how many murders are we up to this year??
