Sounds like another kid in serious need of a two-parent family.”

Kid will be a loser....overbearing nanny-mom pulling him out of the only disciplined environment he has....harbinger of more to come. She’ll hock her Chevy when he’s 16 to keep him from going to the detention center.

Just for letting her son go out in public like that, Michelle needs to be flogged with a wet algebra book.

Money comes from the state just like a District School. So here in MI, each child accounts for 7500.00 to the school. A private company educates the children. If they can do it for 3000.00 per child, the rest is profit. (Homeschooling, I do it on 300.00 a year)

Not a lot of unions in a Charter so they aren’t paying the janitor 14.00 an hour. Most times the teachers are paid less as well.

It is a GREAT education. Everyone I know that took their kids out of charters and put them into the District schools found that they were well ahead of their peers.

Yes, the other parents are. Being a parent in one of those schools you AGREE to a set of rules. If one kid breaks them, it snowballs.

Now you may not like that idea, but the parents with kids in charters do. If someone doesn’t like the rules they have an option to send their kids to a District school.

see?

But spiking can be mild, as in 1” hair stood up using gel all through it which places very thin “spikes” evenly distributed in a more natural manner (I know, I had spikes in HS and my nephew grew up with them for most part).

The descriptions are a bit conflicting. Pictures, please!

My reason for emphasising that they are still public schools was to point out that by attending them, parent's are still placing them in the care of the state - which certain courts have ruled to mean that the parents are abrogating their rights over their own children when in school.

But the story has the words, “Charter School,” and, “Discrimination,” in it. That’s why it’s in the news. Doesn’t matter what the boy’s Mom says.

Folks who find a Mohawk haircut “offensive” really should return to their own continent

Those settlers who got a haircut by a Mohawk generally found it a bit disturbing.

You see this over and over again. People demand individual expression and diversity, so institutions must eliminate all standards which make them unique and become just like every other institution. The result is a bland sameness of everything.

A uniform policy of a charter school is designed to set the children apart from main-stream society and eliminate distractions. If the policy is defeated (and that is what all this acting-out on the part of the mother is all about), the charter school loses it’s particular identity and becomes more like every other school. Once again, the demand for diversity leads to uniformity.

This is an alternative school, meaning this is a child with problems already. Now, his mother is teaching him he can do whatever he wants. This hair is an attitude, and this mother is not helping her son.

And I am very critical of public education and their indoctrination as a rule.

“Changing the hairstyle is not an option, she said.”

And this is a ridiculous, ludicrous, bull-headed statement.

Perhaps, but practically speaking, it's going to be a little hard to do anything with that kid's head for the next several weeks, short of shaving it completely....

Some parents like to push the boundaries and then wonder why their kids turn out disrespectful of others.

No problem! The NEA HATES these schools and fights them tooth and nail.

Gotta wonder about the kid’s mom—if you’re picking battles this would seem to be kind of a dumb one to get involved in.
But now her little darling is famous—without accomplishing anything. And his self-esteem is, no doubt, healthier than ever. That’s the American way, circa 2008.

Oh well. Another life lesson for little Bryan Ruda-Mohawk wearer, center of the known universe, and no doubt, a potential contender for the Dylan Klebald Award for 2017.

He should have been suspended, he parents must be idiots, schools don’t need this kind of distraction.
