Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

This is a duplicate post. The previous poster did use the original title.

Remember, it is not “global warming” anymore, it is “climate change.” And it is still GW’s, captialism’s, and conservatives’ fault, and women and minorities are still hit hardest...

Yes, the cool periods were times of economic and social unrest.

One year does not an era make, however.

Al Gore chortles “suckers” as he reads the monthly statement from his accountants.

“The debate on climate change is over. The problem is accepted as fact by experts everywhere” - Al Gore

Here’s how Climate Change works.

One person says, “That’s hot.” They mean it’s good.

The other person says, “That’s cool.” They mean it’s good.

hot and cool both stand for the same thing in this case.

I read a litte bit about the “Little Ice Age” and what I take from it is that the average temps dropped 2-4 degrees....can that be correct..and if so, can that be that devastating?

As I sit here watching the snow pile up on top of the more than 6 feet of snow we’ve already gotten this year, not to mention the unprecedented glacial deposits from freezing rains, I daydream about Global Warming and wish that it were true.

Alas, it is not.

‘Tis true, however, that they’ve changed the name of the phenomenon to “Climate Change”, which is something that has happened in cycles throughout history.

This fact is an Inconvenient Truth to the tyrants who wish to impose upon us yet another tax accompanied by rationing of resources, to the which our overlords will have ample and constant access.

After all, they’re so important.

Right, Al?

It can be quite devastating near the northern limits of cultivation. We’re talking about the areas in which certain crops can be grown moving south several hundred miles. We’re talking about growing seasons perhaps a month shorter.

Quite devastating indeed.

Ask people in central Florida how far south the citrus belt has moved in the last 20 years. What used to be vast orange groves along the Florida Turnpike north of Orlando now looks like a waste land. I doubt that is a result of the temperature going up.

All this can be easily explained as a consequent of global climate change. It’s simple. Climate change leads to changes in the climate.

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded.

See, all those CFL's and hybrid cars ARE making a difference!!! /s
