Above the fray? Smart move? Excuse me but in case you are new to this website, McLame is being hard pressed to gain any support from the true conservatives around these parts and across the country.
Check my sign-up date, noob. :-)

"So are you a Conservative or are you a Republican? Is having an R by the name enough?" Actually I don't like labels. You cannot describe a person in a word. Let's say I'm a Freethinker as you describe yourself.
I would rather have a president who serves(not leads)his country and is neither beholding to a party or rich men. See:Farewell Address, Paragraph 20 on..
In this day and age, it's not likely, given how much money is available to buy politicians.
But one can hope.
My point is that McCain is now the front runner and no-one will likely step up from now on. We CANNOT have Clinton or Obama and hopefully we'll have a Republican congress soon as well.

Er, you are aware of IRCA, right?
Not exactly the crowning achievement of anti-amnesty work.
You are aware that IRCA included stiff fines and imprisonment which were not included in McAmnesty's McCain-Kennedy.
You are aware that Michael Reagan has publicly stated that President Reagan felt, in retrospect, that IRcA was a failure and probably his once achievement he wished he had not done, right?
And given the failure of IRCA, a smart man would have run in the opposite direction. Reagan would have, McAmnesty did not.
There is no comparison between the two.
