Setting the record straight.
He should have been sent to Cuba where he could have practiced his traitorous anti-Americanism and been welcome. POS.
Doug, I wish you could get this new parody song on Houston radio. to the tune of Tom Petty’s Mary Jane’s Last Dance. Last Chance for Hillary. It is so funny, you would LOVE IT.
Doug, I love your posts, look for them every day, keep up the good work, you are very entertaining, not to mention clever.
Bitter sweet, I know. But Doug, you gave me the openning.
Thanks so much.
I have met the father, a very nice guy, and guess what? He was the only person to ever thank me for my Vietnamese service. Go Figure!!
Vietnam, 39th Combat Engineer Battalion, 1966-1967
It’s very late, but I’m thanking you, my friend.
In 2004, I attended a book signing in Beverly Hills with John O’Neill and Buzz Patterson. A FReeper knew I was going and sent me money to get a book for him and a book for his boss. I think he might have been in Minnesota.
Although the FReeper had worked for him for several years, he had not know of his service in Vietnam. He never talked about it. When the Swift Vets came forward, for the first time, the boss talked about Vietnam.
O’Neill inscribed the book, as I recall, To my comrade in arms, finally, welcome home. I was told that when the FReeper gave him the book, he was overcome and went into a room alone, and undoubtedly began crying.
I cried when he told the story; I cry as I write it. Yes, after all these years, the defeat of John Kerry was really the welcome home you never got.
