Is this really a god idea considering how badly everyone in whining about water restrictions and drought in the area?
Years ago the Sierra Club had billboards in Phoenix demanding that Glen Canyon Dam be torn down. That's what they really want.
There are at least two dams below the Glen Canyon Dam: Hoover Dam that forms Lake Mead, and Parker Dam that forms Lake Havasu. The water ain’t getting away that far.
I suspect scientists had a clue about that prior to 2004.
If we had any sense we’d dam up the Grand Canyon? Are you out of your mind? Have you ever been there? Ever rafted the Colorado or hiked in the interior canyon?
Jesus, it’s fools such as you who give conservatives a bad name. Isn’t that the point of being a conservative? To protect and defend that which is worthy of conservation? Much of the country has been paved over and is ugly and obscene and industrialized and regimented and unnatural; lets keep one small corner of the USA as wild as possible.
Chubbs vs. Las Vegas?
I vote for the chubs.
ping-a-ling
IMO Las Vegas created their own water shortage. Deserts were made to be dry, uninhabted areas. Not housing developments complete with lots of grass, swimming pools and golf courses. Vegas, Atlanta, California and other areas who are short of water need to suck it up and put a priority on life - First, deport the illegals, second, stop using any water for growing corn for ethanol or farm raised shrimp, no water for private swimming pools, golf courses or car washes. Priorities should be: water for food and crops, then for utilities, then for drinking (unless you drink only bottled water) and bathing. If they still have shortages, then they might have a valid point. Those of us who are over 60 remember the weekly bath on Saturday night - particularly if we were the youngest in the family and the last one bathed. Interestingly we all survived.
Sierra snow pack is 111% of average this year with another month of winter to go.
That may be true but the Sierra snowpack doesn’t drain into the Colorado river or Lake Powell.
My bad, I gipped it by 22%. Rocky Mt. snow pack is 133% of average this year.
LOL! I figured the Rocky Mountain snowpack was way up but I couldn’t resist posting that. Hopefully it’s going to help the water shortage.
“Wishful Thinking” :) /s
