"It will try to address what was before the Big Bang."

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark here, but I'm gonna guess that it was the Big Dinner at the Big Fancy Restaurant.

This question greatly frustrated Stephen Hawking, whenever he is asked it. He usually responds by saying it’s a stupid question and is like asking “what lies north of the north pole?”

If they can’t work out the details of those moments shortly after the big bang, how can they scope out what the universe was BEFORE the big bang?

I was just going to post a similar line from the book STRANGE MATTERS which I read a few weeks ago. Under some models of the universe, you don’t get a “before time” or “before the universe”. It dosn’t make sense to us, because it’s outside of our experience, but so is a time where the four fundamental forces of the universe (electromagnetism, gravity, and strong and weak nuclear forces) were one unified force. It’s beyond our senses, and the only way anyone can imagine it is through the math.

Was there God? If not, how did God come about? And why?

The theory I heard was that a universe is created when a black hole explodes.

Our universe has lots of black holes because of evolutions: those universes which have lots of black holes will spawn more universes which will be similar to them.

When a black hole explodes, there is no telling exactly what will happen. So there could be lots of different universe out there with different basic constants, etc.

The ultimate evolutionary theory

Surely, there was a ‘something’ before the ‘big bang.’

The problem is that time itself was created in the big bang along with space. So there was no "before" to come before time was created. It's like asking what were your thoughts before your dad's sperm inseminated your mom's egg. There wasn't yet a "you" there to have thoughts. There was no time before the big bang created time-space.

The oscillating universe has been abandoned by just about everyone in the know. Dark matters has done away with that theory.

“Unfortunately, the weekly World News went under. I hope Ed Anger found another gig!”

Man, you brought back some good old memories. When I was a kid, I loved Ed Anger. I still remember his astute alliteration when writing about the Middle East (it must have been the early 80s). Anyway, the title for one of his weekly rants....Let’s make those Sand Suckers Sing Soprano

If we're going to discuss the beginning of the universe, then we need to discuss what created even the "pre-universe marble".

Vishnu had a dream ...

Because religion does carry significant political weight in our society and elections, I thought it appropriate to list this under News/Activism.

What kind of political activism would you suggest to correct the situation, and exactly what should the History Channel present as the correct version of Creation?

As far as I'm concerned, the Almighty unquestionably created the heavens and the Earth. All science is trying to do is figure out how He did it.

Did you ever think that the universe always existed and therefore had no beginning.

Religious people say that is impossible and that God created it.

OK, so when did God have his beginning. They answer he always existed.

Isn't it amazing that people believe in a supernatural being they have never seen has always existed , but cannot entertain the idea that the world they live in might have always existed.

But a belief in a supernatural being (or beings) is easier to embrace because it offers you a chance to save yourself after you die. - Tom

It is not difficult to understand once you are able to wrap your head around the fact that we are going backwards and not forward in time.
