I remember the same argument against Japan. They could not beat us in WWII, so they are going to destroy us with trade (buy us with our own dollars, etc.). Well, it did not happen and neither will China be the threat that you make it out to be. The more intertwined we become with China with trade the less threat China will be. Isolation is what makes countries a threat.
