A cynic might translate the national motto, E pluribus unum, as "something for nothing". Now that the stock market and the housing market have failed to give Americans something for nothing, they want something for nothing from the government. The trouble is that he who gets something for nothing will earn every penny of it, twice over...

The Obama cult is like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton on magic mushrooms but with better suits and a slicker packaging for the Fabian Socialist agenda.
The swooning and fainting is strange but some liberals did go googoo-gahgah over Mikhail Gorbachev in the 1980s. That seemed like Stockholm Syndrome then, driven by liberal anxiety over the popularity and success of Reagan. Is something similar happening now? Deranged liberals look for a messiah and savior?

When Gorbachev visited the U.S. in the '80s, the liberals who hated Reagan started raving about Gorbachev, what a genius he was, and almost like they expected him to solve global problems. That seemed strange then. It seemed like Stockholm Syndrome - people falling in love with their captors. Here's an account from 1987:
