Ross Perot will probably be willing to give the DNC another helping hand.

It’s certainly possible but one would have to consider the ramifications of such an act. Remember Ross Perot gave us Bill Clinton.

Rudy is a conservative?
Besides, both have already endorsed McCain. Why would they do that if they were going to run as an independent?

Ross Perot will probably be willing to give the DNC another helping hand. Actually Ross Perot came out for the current President Bush just before the 2000 election. Kind of shocked me since all I'd heard is that he hated the Bushs.

OF COURSE NOT! The two parties have fixed it so that conservatives can’t do anything, and they’re counting on the fact that we’re not imaginative or resourceful enough to do anything in the next 8 months to cross them up.
Shame is, they’re probably right.
Oh, wait a minute. Political parties are not even in the constitution, are they? Yet we think we’re just hung...

“Why can’t a Fred or Rudy jump in on another line just to get on the ballot.”
Since when is Giuliani a conservative? And Fred Thompson is another party-person and friend of McCain. Not happening.
Tom Tancredo. He has decent name ID, is a solid conservative and is retiring from the U.S. House anyways.

No, you have every right to ask what you want to ask - just say it. No one should be afraid to say what they want to say and on the whole, this forum and the fellow freepers give one a rather heated and spirited give and take on all. To your question about a Third Party entry via a Conservative Candidate, the way the political power structure is conigurated in this country: only the two major political parties have a real chance of winning, the other ones that enter are for side-show entertainment only./Just Asking - seoul62........

A conservative may very well jump in the race. I pray they don't though. McCain is not my firsts choice...hell he wouldn't even crack my top 25 picks for President but he is eminently more qualified for the office than either of his potential 'rat rivals.
The WOT is the bottom line for me...and in this I can trust McCain. I hope that conservatives work hard for conservative GOP House and Senate candidates and that we can at least hold our own there and then vote for McCain.

It is hard to see how an upstart campaign by a Conservative independend could have any other effect but hurting John McCain and electing the Democrat in November. McCain will not be elected in Nov. The real conservatives are not gonna come out for him.

No we dont need a candidate that will drain away ten percent of the conservative vote A large percentage has already decided to sit McCain out.
The GOP is dreaming if they think McCain will be elected.

Bush the Younger will give us Obama. "Yes to Amnesty"

I believe McInsane to be a far bigger danger to conservatism than Bush I. There is precious little difference between McCain and Obama and Hillery.
Giving McCain the Presidency is like giving the fox the keys to the hen house.

It is hard to see how an upstart campaign by a Conservative independend could have any other effect but hurting John McCain and electing the Democrat in November. Now, there are a lot of folks here at FR who seem to think that is a good idea. I am not one of them.
Agreed, It sound so tempting but it just wouldn't work. The realization is this is what we have. This is it. Let's hope McCain chooses an acceptable VP. McCain is likely to be a one-termer anyway.

Lou Dobbs would make a suitable substitute. Can't stand to watch the guy.

McCain will not be elected in Nov. The real conservatives are not gonna come out for him. I disagree. Osama is at his peak. The more this country learns about him, the less they will like him. McCain is already polling well against him and it should improve. Not that McCain has any chance to move up but that Osama has a better chance to drift lower.

You got that right, except I think you forgot the those who believe 'superman' (their candidate of choice) will swoop in and save us from our 'liberalism'.
