I don’t think he would have a problem with Miraculous Medals. Don’t know what he is, and not my business. Do know that they have had two memorial services (for former graduates) in the gym just in the last several months. They included religious pastors speaking. He allowed this and I believe even attended the services.

See my post #111. I have children in the district also, West and Memorial. I have found there is almost always more to a story than what is printed!

And by the way welcome to Freerepublic!

Thank you. :)

Very informative post and it’s appreciated. My high school paper (as a student) was controlled by the school and same with those I’ve been a teacher/faculty and also the school my kids attend.

College was completely different (Penn State, The Daily Collegian). Thanks again.

Your absolutely right klamath.

I read all the opinion posts there.

If I was this kids Mom since she is Catholic and if she is practicing her faith I would as his parent have him going to Catechism to learn about the faith he is wearing arond his neck and preparing him for his Confirmation.

It is a Catholic parents responsibility from the time they baptize their baby to raise that child in the Catholic faith/teachings.

After reading the Daily Gazette news story and opinions esp about the kid not really accepting his faith...I pray his Mother accept her responsibility to raise him (both of the kids/Moms) in the faith.

Giving him a necklace and no catechism education is like not opening his life up to the full Graces of God. JMO

If these two boys say went to Oregons St. Kolbes YMI teen summer camp it would IMO be taking them out of any temptation of the possible gang/up to no good behaviour.

And allow them to experience a great time with other Catholic teens and hopefully open them up to new life choices.

I would love the chance to sponser the kid if he was open to going to Oregons YMI teen camp.

I read the Gazette article and responses.

In light of more info I challenge this kids Mom to do what ALL of us Catholic Parents are responsible for .....educating our children in the faith.

Like public school it requiers weekly classes from first grade through to high school.

We have a great teen camp for Catholics esp those who are struggling with there faith and the respect and love we humbly offer to the Lord in Praying the Rosary and attending Mass and recieving Holy Eucharist.

So if his Mom is not expecting and directing him to catechism is he getting the proper upbringing by his “Catholic” Mom?

Giving him a necklace is a wonderful gesture/gift but that is not going to give him the tools to grow up in the sick secular society.

South Albany High School has improved steadily since Mr. Equinoa came from Southern California to become Principal. The young men in question are obnoxious, disrespectful and have a serious “you can’t discipline me because I’m a special class” attitude. I thank God Mr. Equinoa is taking a firm stance against the trashy element...regardless of race, sex or whatever nonsense you might use to “classify” people. These boys have built their own reputations over many years, and need to learn there are consequences.
Interesting that one of them was openly laughing about not having documentation checked when he got a job at a local McDonalds...and that despite their “abused” status and parents who can’t even speak English one of the boys drives a new car. Gang activity is growing in Oregon, and South American gangs have been a large part of it...not profiling but fact...and these kids need to straighten out and fly right.
I am thankful that a Principal with some cojones has stepped in and is straightening out South Albany High. I see him at every event I attend and at all hours he’s working at that school...like at 5:30 pm on last Sunday when the scum from the local news ambushed him and made it sound like he treated them rudely. Wouldn’t you be annoyed after you’ve been working your weekend away to have someone start yelling obnoxious questions in your face? I have never seen a man work so hard and show such dedication to rewarding excellence and keeping the punk element in check.

Thanks. I wasn’t aware of this aspect.

It’s wonderful having so many here know the details that aren’t released to the rest of us.

I live in NJ (southern NJ) and we’re going through our own thing here, in education and fighting the local school district often. We made national news but very little info was given/reported.

I don’t know if it’s appropriate to say so, but that principle looks pretty...uh, mirthful to me.

He looks like he’s blasted, to be real here.

Who knows....when I went to high school, our principal Fr. Lukehardt kept a bottle of Usher’s Green Stripe in his desk drawer........

exactly what I think

I tell my kids that the gay lifestyle isn’t normal , that if it were nature would have intended for two gays to have kids, seeing as they can’t then it’s a unnatural act,.

In essence it is a perverted sexual mind, maybe a woman was born with too much testerone and vica versa so medical help can be done on these people I would think and if it isn’t that case then it;s their mind.

People can that sexual frame of mind can tell each other as much as possible that it’;s about love etc but if it were then why feel the need for sex with them.

I love my family and my dog even some friends but I don’t feel the need for to have sex with them same as companionship.

As for them saying well it;s their private buisness then why feel the need to have these weird parades, why feel the need to show us by having rainbow colours stickers, flags etc.

Also a man had sex with an animal in sherborn massachusetts last year and he did it was his private buisness so do we ignore that as well

Fact is marriage and being together is between a man and a woman, the liberal groups know that the founding fathers meant this, the judges etc know this but felt the need to distort the wording and thus pass their own agenda onto the public even denying the people the tax payers the right ot vote

Thank you for the welcome Klamath. I must confess, that I have been angry over the covering of this story. I responded to this board before knowing who I was responding to. Now that I’ve looked around, I quite like the place. Global you are right, I don’t think the parents are providing the religious education these boys need and deserve. I have seen and heard these boys with my own eyes and ears and know for a fact that they aren’t well behaved, innocent children. I’ve also seen teachers and the such bend over backwards to help them and try to lead them on the right path. They are learning disobedience and disrespect somewhere.

There are several observations here. First...if I were to go into court...I’d have a dozen priest sit behind me...in full garb and crucifix. I’d make sure the Judge had a clear view and then ask if any of those guys were potential gang members.

After that...I’d bring up the toughest gang of all time...lead by some dude and his twelve gang members. I’d agree in pure satire....that they carried crucifixes and were likely the most dangerous group to ever walk the face of the earth. I’d then point out...that even in the eyes of the judge of those times...that dude was guilty and sentenced to death. The amazing thing? His gang didn’t dissolve away...they multiplied. If the juge feels this kid is a danger for wearing the crucifix then they need to haul that kid as far from humanity as possible...because the message might continue spreading.
