The Irish seem to have done all right. The Republic of Ireland’s “Celtic Tiger” economy is the strongest in the European Union.

True indeed, though they have had 90+ years to do it.

Scotland is SO integrated as a subset of the british economy, that I don’t see how a non-british scotland is going to function, though I don’t know demographics which would indicate what sort of tax base Scotland contributes to westminster now, and/or if british government expenses in scotland alone operate at a net loss.

Also, who will get the oil platforms?
