Medical Concerns/Suggestions for Eagles Muster-March 14/15th, 2008

Dear Eagles,

First of all, thank you to all Eagles who will be able to participate to support our U.S. Troops and the cause of American freedom, liberty and truth at Eagles Muster on Saturday, March 15th. That being said, your health and well-being is absolutely critical to the mission that day. Please review the following suggestions and strongly consider being an advocate to your own health and to the safety of your fellow Eagle brothers and sisters around you.

1. Weather appropriate clothing is critical. Many of you remember last March. We froze…enough said. The weather reports are inconsistent. You must be prepared with several layers of warm clothing, long johns, thick socks/extra dry pair; hats (covering ears) insulated gloves and a heavy coat or parka. There is little shelter from the cold or rain in the DC area that you will be in. Rain must be prepared for. Bring a plastic rain suit/poncho or a compact disposable poncho available at all sports stores for about $1.00 (this will fit in your pocket). Even if the outside temperature is in the upper 40’s to low 60’s, you will be ice cold if you get wet. If we are “weather blessed” the day of the Muster, you can always shed your layers! Enough cannot be said about having appropriate clothing.

2. Bring your medications. If you have a chronic health concern of any sort, your medications are critical as well. There is a certain level of emotion and stress that can occur when standing up for your beliefs against the sorry likes of the “hate America crowd”. This stress can raise blood pressure for those of you with hypertension (high blood pressure) or heart disease and can affect your blood sugar for those of you with diabetes causing very high or very low blood sugar. Diabetics: You must eat foods throughout the day that contain protein, carbohydrates and a little fat…this will help balance your blood sugar…a sugary donut or plain bagel in the morning alone, will leave you with severely low blood sugar and you may end up as a casualty. Please don’t forget to take your medication and monitor your blood pressure or blood sugar.

3. Bring a small first-aid kit. Assorted band-aids, a small tube of antibiotic ointment, some small packaged hand cleansing wipes or gel and Tylenol or Motrin (Ibuprophen) could be very valuable. A tiny kit can be put together in a zip-lock baggie and slipped into your pocket. Band-aids are very valuable for blisters. If another Eagle needs assistance, always ask if they have any allergies!

4. Bring non-perishable, portable foods and a couple water bottles. You will be active and motivated in your support of America. Sustain yourself with some fruit, snack crackers, dried beef jerky, nuts (if no allergy), pretzels, peanut butter crackers, breakfast/granola bars, glucerna bars/shakes for diabetics. Bring some non-caffinated drinks (water is best) to hydrate yourself!

5. Buddy Up with another Eagle. Whether you are joining the “Muster” with other Eagles, or coming on your own…we are all in this together! Always stay in the company of another Eagle during Eagle activities. It is up to us to look out for one another. If you experience some type of medical or other problem, let a fellow Eagle know right away…tell someone if you have a serious allergy or health problem (high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, history of stroke, etc.) so your Eagle Buddy can get you the right help.

6. Avoid physical confrontation if possible…but take no sh*t. We’re standing for America!

May God bless each and every Eagle at Eagles Muster, on March 15th, 2008. Send the word to all…we need each and every one of you…Eagles Up!

Kathie Marino RN E-mail Kathie (for contact info FReepmail mountainflower) for any “Eagles Muster” health related questions.

NEW SUBJECT................................

I have two volunteers who are willing to provide sleeping arrangement in the DC area for Eagles that may be tight on funds. One lives in VA and can accept 3 visitors; the other lives in Maryland and can accept 2 visitors. It's clear that these brothers are offering heartfelt support to another brother or sister. Contact me if this will help you. (FReepmail mountainflower for contact info)

NEW SUBJECT..........................

We thank all of you that have opened your wallets to help defray the costs associated with the March 14/15 events. We have kept the costs to a minimum....no expensive stage, in fact no stage at all; portable but effective public address system/podium; miminal porta potties; adequate medical (Amb w/2 EMT personnel); and other smaller items. We are left with several thousand dollars of obligations and need your help.

We incurred one sizeable cost today for medical care of all our Eagles amounting to $960.00...if there is anyone out there that would like to personally take care of this item, just click on the Eagle Up logo below, enter the $960.00 and complete the form. (Sorry, you will have to go to the website. I am good, but not that good that I could get the logo here AND get it to work. Mtn Flwr) http://eaglesup.us

We hope you can give the minimum gift of $25.00. We have made this as easy as pie. Just click the Eagles UP logo below that says $25.00.

However, if you can help more please select the the button above "Pick Your Own Amount" to input your designated amount. This also will work for those who may wish to provide $10 or $15.

If you prefer to send a check or money order, please send payable to Eagles Up, Inc., PO Box 202, Mequon, WI 53092

All gifts are equally appreciated and benefit our cause to support our troops, our fallen and their families.
