Memo to Conservatives: Boycott The Lars Larson Show!
Email from Lars Larson | 2/24/08 | levotb

Posted on 02/24/2008 3:18:29 PM PST by levotb

Lars Larson, nationally syndicated (supposed) conservative talk show host out of Oregon, has emailed me (and I assume others on his email list) an email titled "Reasons To Support John McCain" as an attachment. I did not open it, but I knew this was coming. Like Rush and Mike Gallagher and Mike Simone, Lars Larson is a huge supporter of Bush and other globalist RINOs. I recall last Spring the week of the U.S. Senate debate on the McCain/Kennedy Amnesty bill, D.C. was deluged by conservative talk show hosts from around the country, the biggest show of talk show conservative force ever. Some big-name talk show hosts were either not invited or chose not to go. Lars Larson was not among the talk show hosts that blanketed D.C. that weekend. I recall saying to myself, "You know, Lars is opposed to the Invasion, talks tough on it nightly...Then, why is he not in D.C. putting his money where his mouth is? Lars "answered" that question today in his email pushing conservatives like me to vote for "Mr. Amnesty" John McCain.

So, I think it is reasonable for true conservatives here at FR to voice their opposition to Lars' efforts by declaring a boycott, small though it may be, on Lars' show. By the way, I replied to Lars' email today saying I oppose McCain's candidacy. Since Lars gave a number of reasons why we all should "pack it in" and pull the lever for McCain, here are some reasons for conservatives NOT to vote for him come November:

1) Amnesty (He's no different than Obama or Clinton and probably is worse as it will be harder for a Republican House, assuming they win it back, to oppose their own party leader)

2) He hates conservatives and has been the most vociferous anti-conservative in Congress (This is quite a statement, given the radical left in the House and Senate)

3) There is NO guarantee that he'll select strict constructionist judges (In fact, there's plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest that he won't)

4) He is a bad-tempered, stubborn, angry old man who is ill-suited for such high office (No way do I want his finger on the nuclear trigger!)

5) How he got there. John McCain married his way into the Senate, and is doing so dumped his ill wife (much like Gingrich did his) who had waited patiently and loyally for him to return from a N. Vietnamese prison camp. He showed his love for her by dumping her for a AZ mob guy's daughter who herself became a druggie. His story is eerily similar to that of Giuliani's and Gingrich's.

There are other reasons, but these are the most important reasons to me not to support him.

What do you think?

So your solution is to let Hussein or Hitler take over and hope for the best??? This isn't a win win decision IMHO.

Are you sure it’s Lars? I listen to his Northwest show every day and he has had nothing good to say about McLame. Friday he even said that he couldn’t vote for him and might go third party. I find him to be a very good conservative.

I think I’d druther not have McCain as our nominee, but since he is going to be, I’m going to vote for him.

I also think I’ve never heard of Lars Larson.

I think the trend toward self-righteous vanities in News/Activism has got to stop.

I have noticed that lately Lars has produced analysis and taken positions more in line with a Republican hack than a conservative.

I am disappointed. I had believed that gun rights would allow Lars to see the weakness of Bush in other areas.

We should do something tricksy with the informal militia rules which allow for military draft and just draft a decent candidate.

This latest crop of volunteers is just unsat.

Hi Duck Fan

Yes, I’m sure. He and I have had an email back and forth on and off for about a year.

But if not, I’ll be the first to write a major apology. As a matter of fact, I emailed him my reply saying that not only was I opposing McCain, but I was going to boycott ALL talk shows whose hosts are backing him.

A questions many have asked: Is McCain mentally and physically healthy? His loss of control and shouting obscenities during Senate meetings (along with talking to himself, nasty lies, and other red flags) indicates declining mental health. Physically also he appears feeble, sounds exhausted when he talks. He and his wife are creepy.

Hi Navy Patriot

You know, last year, prior to the Amnesty vote in the Senate, I listened to Lars and he sounded as conservative as I was/am on the issue. But knowing how he was a solid Bushie, I can see now how easy it is for him to back McCain. How other conservatives feel now towards Lars is anyone’s guess. I actually like Lars as a person, from what I’ve heard for years now on his show. But liking the person and being on the opposite side when push comes to shove in an election is another matter.

levotb,

I’ll call into his show tomorrow and pin him down on this issue (if I can get through). Thanks for posting this.
