My sister had colon cancer 4 years ago so I’m considered to be at a higher risk. But I’m also afraid of the 17,000 foot tube.

Do NOT be afraid of the 17,000 foot tube. I've had two, and both times got the Fentonyl (sp?). Believe me. You will not remember a single thing about the procedure. The last time as I came out of the anesthesia, I thought that I was remembering some of it, but within 20 minutes, I had not a single memory.

For those of you who were inclined to spew root beer or any other liquid all over your computers while reading Dave’s essay. Just be thankful that he didn’t elaborate about the recovery room, as you lay there discreetly behind a thin curtain, with the admonition that you will not be allowed to leave until you pass wind. Believe me, while coming out from under that drug they give you, there is nothing funnier than a room full of people farting loudly! When the nurse came and asked me if I had passed gas yet I replied. “What? you didn’t hear that? I thought they could hear that down the street! Oh, and I’m sorry if I peeled the paint off the wall.” :)
