Early last week, the presidential campaign was rocked by the "bombshell" that Barack Obama had borrowed certain rhetorical flourishes from Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick's 2006 gubernatorial campaign. The revelations were not universally regarded as shocking.
Anyone who was aware of the existence of Deval Patrick prior to the publication of this story could see the similarities between the Obama and Patrick campaigns. Both men ran campaigns based on hope. Both ostentatiously sought out a style that would transcend politics as usual. They shared a strategist, David Axelrod, who had penned vacuously uplifting prose for John Edwards long before Edwards became an angry populist trapped in a 28,000-square-foot mansion.
The Patrick campaign appeared to provide something of a blueprint for Obama. Patrick didn't start his race for governor with the advantage of celebrity that Obama brought to the presidential race. Nevertheless, his message of hope resonated, and he easily defeated formidable opponents in both the Democratic primary and the general election.
If anything--and you may find this difficult to believe--the Patrick campaign was less substantive than the Obama campaign. In 2006, Massachusetts's overwhelmingly Democratic legislature had passed Mitt Romney's universal health care law. The economy was good. And yet Patrick won the race relying on hollow rhetoric like, "I want you to understand, I am not asking anybody to take a chance on me. I'm asking you to take a chance on your own aspirations."

And now Massachusetts is left with socialized medicine,
incoming casinos (represented by Deval’s wife’s law firm),
and thousands of eloquent rapists and millions of
illegal aliens - all protected from on high.
They left out the best part — fast moving storm dumped a foot of snow on Boston through Central MA and upwards. Hit during the afternoon into rush hour.
No plows could make it onto the highway as they were bumper to bumper with vehicles trying to get home as their children were released from school at noon.
Disaster the likes of which a state in New England has not seen in decades as snow, while a four letter word around here come Spring, is quite commonplace and nothing the Commonwealth can’t handle no matter what the amount is.
Deval Patrick after being slammed the next day for the legions of vehicles and commuters stranded on his highways and throughout the City of Boston: “Don’t blame me, I told you all to go home.” <-—— What did the fool just say?
Note that Deval at approx. 10 a.m. or so did warn the communters of Boston to head home “early” (which was not defined of course), the storm started at noon. The plows and sanders he did not send out onto the highways to position themselves to get moving when the first flakes started to fall.
The politics of snow in New England is a deadly one. Deval failed his first major test miserably. Accordingly, Deval Patrick will be a one term governor.
Your nonsense just never stops does it?
Does the Mayor of Boston have any responsibility for snow removal or does the Governor of the State manage it for every village and city?
Oh heck no, they both screwed up. Deval for the highways fiasco (standstill in Boston because no one could get onto the highways), and Menino for not staggering Employer release times, and for the traffic disaster Boston turned into.
Lots of blame, but the bulk of it falls on Deval’s lap.
Nonsense?
Was not aware you worked directly for Deval or Romney?
Which is it? No wonder you can’t cope with FACTS.
You know we have “socialized” auto insurance here also..... quick, add that to your list of nonsense.
I live here. I am quite aware of the liberal policies we have in this state. If you wish to discuss MA’s shortcomings do so with facts, not the ridiculous extremes you post.
Reading one of your posts is the equivilent of reading the National Enquirer. You know that “little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing” quote? Yeah, kind of fits you perfectly.
If all Obama ever does as President is buy a big Cadillac, it’ll be a great four years.
Oh and one more note — your little hysterical rant over MA that you posted is hardly germane to the article, which I am sure you didn’t even read.

(Judge) Murphy overruled in molest case - Judge set man free due to tardy witness
"February 23, 2008 - The Supreme Judicial Court has reversed a decision by
Judge Ernest B. Murphy, who found an accused child molester not guilty
after the alleged young victim went to the wrong courtroom
and waited there for several hours, missing the start of the trial.
The SJC ruled Murphy improperly entered the not guilty finding
last March before evidence and opening statements were presented."
"Murphys attorney Michael E. Mone (**) said yesterday, Lots of judges get overturned all the time. He declined to comment further."
FR-Background - (**) In ultracorrupt Massachusetts, Michael Mone and his ilk from Esdaille,Barret and Esdaille,
create the Judges in the Governor's council, overlook their resume fraud and other crimes,
then practice secretly in front of them, where they (and their clients) are rewarded for covering up that secret info, and
they then protect the corrupt judges.
This whole “ X plagiarized” a speech is a crock when it comes to the Rats. The REALITY is their positions and rhetoric is so interchangeable that no one can tell which them apart. It’s all “change”, “hope”, etc etc etc.
Just ask the question “How can we pull the wool over their eyes today”....for the answer!
For those of you thinking of voting for obamarama to spite McCain you may want to think again,,,,,it’s going to be a looooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggg four years of destruction and we as a country can not afford it, those of us who live in MA have gotten a sour taste of a do nothing, know nothing far left wing lib,,,,trust me, you don’t want obamarama doing to the country what this clown is doing or rather not doing here in MA, we have rapists and perverts running the streets, in fact a member of the gov’s own administratin was caught in a streamroom in FL with a fifteen y/o boy............but, I digress,,,,,McCain may seem like a lib and I agree but imo he’s the best of the worst, hill is going to have everyone automatically enrolled in healthcare and she will tap your pay for the cash whether you like it or not and whether you can afford it or not,,,,obamarama wants to sit down and talk to our enemies, the same enemies who would think twice about chopping your head off................
typical democrat solution to any problem results in more catastrophic problems due to unintended consequences...
May this go from your keyboard to G-d's ears.
They are carried forward by white votes, mostly from the young, who are bewitched by "third generation" white guilt.
Whites suffering from 3GWG were born after Jim Crow ended. Their parents bore the brunt of desegregation and the collapse of public education.
These 3G whites have never uttered a bad word about blacks. Their whole lives have been about admiration of "diversity". They have come into contact with more blacks, sooner, than any other generation in US history.
And they keep looking for those blacks who are "just like them". They look, and they look. Where can they be?
Along comes the African-Indonesian-White Obama, and he is so CLEAN. And so WELL-SPOKEN.
Clean and well-spoken compared to what?
Figure that out, and you've found the key to the lock of 3G white guilt.
I will have to say, I saw the comparison of the two speeches, and the thing that struck me most was that, for all the fuss about Obama being a “great orator,” I thought Patrick delivered those lines far better. Probably the only thing he can do, though.
I don’t know, his voice is a little too feminine for my liking.
